GTA 5 release date leaked?

Apparantly Zavvi leaked the release date.

' The European-based online retailer Zavvi.com has posted what appears to be a release date for Grand Theft Auto 5. When questioned, the retailer confirmed that the release date of November 23, 2012 was provided to them by their supplier.

"I can confirm that this is the release date forwarded by our supplier," said a spokesperson for Zavvi to Eurogamer PT. "If the release date changes, our website will be updated immediately."'

For me it feels a little too soon as they really haven't shown anything really... however GTA 4 was supposed to be released with a similar time but then was delayed into the next year so I suppose it could be true with a high chance of that happening again. All depends on how long they've been developing and if they fancied a change of pace with the marketing.

Thoughts?

Nope retailers always put in a placeholder date so it allows them to be able to place preorders.

You never know. Keep in mind that their marketing guy is gone. So the scheme might not be the same as RDR or Max with all the trailers/ features videos. They may pull an Apple and say "GTA5 coming next month!". Doubtful myself. But they could.

I don't think so. It is true that the series is very popular but they won't go through without marketing and stuff and it is too late for them to start that and release this year.

As much as the industry needs a new monster to boost sales and all and as much as you guys are dying for it (Not a fan sorry) I kinda think that the best think for this is to launch Nov-2013. That'll provide enough time to marketing, fill it with features and even beat the next year's CoD's sales.

I just hope it ain't Q1-2 2013, otherwise many games would flop and the a lot will get delayed.

PS: Anyone finding the "Please prove you are human" codes to be quite hard ?

As for them not showing much. Dan Houser last year after the trailer said that they weren't gonna reveal alot about the game. They wanted to keep the element of surprise for the people and thus not let them in much on the game. Exactly that has been going on too. We have in total 8 screenshots now, the trailer and barely any info. Exactly their plan. They could release it in November or December and start the full marketing campaign in September. It's been a less-is-more strategy from the start. If that's the idea then it wouldn't make sense to start yet another 6-7 marketing campaign.

We must not forget about a few factors, the biggest being that Take Two Expects more than 600 million from Rockstar Games by FY2013, which is before the end of March 2013. What kind of thing is gonna bring them that kind of money? Max Payne 3 DLCs that barely anyone even buys? Then there's a release in 2013...January? Unlikely, February out of the question, cause that month has Bioshock: Infinite's release, no way is Take Two gonna do that. Could be March, but not after March. Unless Take Two's expections change in their next conference call.

We'll have to wait and see.

I don't get why anyone would think it would be next year...The game looks nearly complete and has been in development for ages.

The trailer came out Nov 2011.

Well get ready to be disappointed because it will be most likely within the first quarter of 2013.

Rockstar always starts their marketing 6 months prior with trickle of screenshots and then when it gets to 2-3 months prior to release they start with more of a drip than a month and they start flooding with trailers and interviews.

We shall wait and see. But if Take Two doesn't change their expectations from Rockstar in their next conference call, it's pretty much a given that we'll see the release before the end of March 2013. Hopefully we'll get some clarity on it soon. Oh by the way, Rockstar has said during a chat yesterday that people should pay attention to the Newswire for news on V. Hopefully some big news.
