Bad gaming day?

Ever had one of those days where your gaming session is disaster from beginning to end?

Some days I turn off the 360/PS3/PC buzzing, because I've had a session where I was in the zone.

But other days, like today, it just all goes pear shaped.

I didn't win a single match of CoD... My K/D didn't budge up or down... I got taken out by some of the most useless campers I've ever come across... Everyone kept voting for the maps I don't like... etc...

Actually, I did win one match out of about 10. I might check the stats, but I don't want to see those average numbers... I need to be the best!

Anyway, whats the worst gaming session you've ever had?

Lost a save game? Smashed your controller? Broken the disc? Corrupted your hard drive? Seen the most anti-climactic ending after weeks of grind?

To tell you the truth your description is a normal day for me in COD, i mean i have a terrible ratio 0.48 i guess on all the recent call of duty, and iam use to it, the thing that i do not understand is that iam good on other games that were inspired by COD or that share the same mechanics like Gotham City impostors, Homefront,etc, but in COD i got my ass handed to me every time, but from time to time i play it nontheless, in battlefield is another story entirely, hey i dont want to make another battlefield vs call of duty here, just pointing out which ones iam good and which iam not, but to sum things up, that is a normal day for me in COD T_T, i just feel jealous that this just happens to you on a few and rare occasions (in a good way of course) 8D.

Since sharing is caring, I suggest you play Battlefield instead :p

With that out of the way, I have too had some ridiculously bad games. Nothing works, every camper and their mother manages to kill me, and nothing goes my way. I usually just quit after 2-3 of those games. Usually after an hour's break, I'm fine to go again.

This happens in Dota2 as well, but mostly due to me being stuck with crappy Russians who refuse to speak English and are so awful you just want to nuke their country to oblivion.

It happened to me in Halo3 so many times I lost count.. There were days when practically every single match saw several AFKers on our team, or a couple of betraying scumbags continuously killing me for the power weapons, until you boot them and 're left 2 vs 4..

There were several matches in succession where the opposing teams consisted of alt accounts of people in the 50s or something, going thru the rank matches.. Needless to say they owned me..

Last weekend I was having a terrible time trying to beat the second boss in Warp, after about 7 attempts or so I just turned off the bloody 360 and didn't touch it until yesterday, when I breezed thru it on the second try..

Any session of returning to CoD of BF3 (PC especially) after a break is bad for me. I'm someone that really needs to work at getting in the zone for those types of games but usually when I'm there it's not to bad. And before anyone says anything, my "in the zone" is pretty average :P

The only thing worse, that really puts me in a foul gaming mood is having a shit run in FIFA online. My best head to head league is 3, I've never gone above that but in one session I did drop from 3 to 7 and I couldn't figure out why.

It honestly felt like everyone in the game knew some sort of exploit that I didn't, given some of the utter shite goals that were going in. FIFA by far is the game that stresses me out more than anything else.

@viral: lol! I can relate to that. I actually had to quit playing FIFA about two years ago, because it's the only game that makes me shout obscenities on a regular basis.

Haven't played it online since I quit. I might try the new version...

Or maybe not.

@Grim: ouch! Reminds me of a bad run I had in StarCraft 2, after they nerfed the Zealots...

I felt like such a noob.

I was 13 or 14 when I discovered the first game to drive me to destroy something. Back in 97 I rented a lot of my games from blockbuster since I didn't have an income. Once I looked at the back of the box for Felony 11-79 playstation, I had to play it. You could drive a bus! :) Probly the first game I'd ever seen where this was possible. I'm sure if you're familiar to this game (in other regions, Super Runabout) you're probly thinking already that it frustrated me, as the game may have been wonky and difficult. Not true. It became one of my first favorite games ever as I mastered it, unlocking every car, track, and beating every challenge. No, my first attempt to play this game would drive me to destroy it physically. I got home with the one copy blockbuster had (it wasn't a popular game) and to no surprise it was scratched beyond belief. Ugh, renting games :) I started it up praying it would work. It didn't. After trying to clean and tweeting my ps1 multiple times, I got it playing. After picking truck (first vehicle available) I began playing. It was awesome. You could drive down multiple paths destroying everything possible. Other cars, tables and chairs, anything you could see. This was the first game I'd ever playedlike this. I was hooked. About have way through the first course The game froze. Crap. I reset, tried cleaning again. I was frantic. I had never wanted to play a game so bad. It was after the third time I was playing when it froze again. I had almost finished the first level. I sprang from my bed in a frenzy, popped the lid on my playstation, grabbed the disc out, and very frisbee like, threw it at my cloest door about as hard as my skinny arms could. The moment it left my hand I came to my senses. Of course it was too late. All I could no was watch and pray that it wouldn't break. It shattered into into three pieces. My mother was a bit upset when I told her she'd have to be paying to replace the game. I didn't rent many games after that as my allowance had been cut off for a while. But once I had related her, I was on a mission to save enough to buy the game for myself. I eventually got it and it became one of the first games that I completed 100%. But on the bad day I realized and learned from getting hotheaded. I've been driven to rage from games since, but haven't broken anything because of it.

Just recently had my Dark Souls (360) save game get corrupted and delete itself! O_o

That was an awful day... I kept telling myself it was just a game but I had spent sooooo long grinding and building my player up. Terrible stuff all round, I had just completed a lot of unique events and looted some really rare items, then...

BAM! Save corruption... :(

Just can't bring myself to start again at the moment, prob won't go back to it now out of principle...

Good thread by the way, it helps to talk about it! ;)

I've had quite a few of those days in CoD. It's just the most humiliating feeling when you think you're pretty good at something, and your reflexes just suddenly aren't cutting it.

For me it's usually been either a bad cold, flu, or lack of sleep at fault :P

I've tried playing drunk a couple of times and that actually didn't hurt my game very much. I wasn't great, but I didn't suck.

In comparison I've been in several WoW raids that failed because our tank was stoned, and also one that was heavily delayed by a severely drunk Finnish guildmember crashing vent.

My latest horror was savegame corruption in Fallout: New Vegas. It seemed like the autosave corrupted first and then tainted every save I made since then. I must've spent two hours just trying to find a single good save game to go back on, and trying to root out all the bad ones that I had written over.

Thankfully it worked. Almost left that playthrough for dead.

The worst for me was when I was rooting through old saves on my PS3 to get rid of some of those extras, and when I got to Fallout 3, I saw quite a few saves so I deleted a few without properly checking the stats. I deleted my most precious file ever, and the closest one to it was over 100 hours behind :/ I wasn't even level 30 yet and I've been level 30 as long as I can remember. I frantically tried searching every USB and memory card I had to see if I had a backup but it was a no-go. Nearly brought me to tears, felt so bad that I was that careless for my favourite game.

I started a few new files though and I'm still having a fantastic time with it (and STILL finding new things and trying new builds). Still hurts though :'(

@ G1GA, FIFA makes me swear uncontrollably if I'm having a bad game. I often have to stop myself because I don't realise it at the time but it is literally along the lines of having "fuck", "shit" or "bollocks" every second or third word.

I would be surprised to hear people DON'T get worked up in the same way. Sports games are by far more stressful than anything else for me.

@ejams, Did a similar thing with a ME character... I feel your pain.
