Nintendo 3DS XL - Day One Game Purchases

Okay, so having had a hands-on experience with a Nintendo 3DS XL during the week, I literally cannot wait to purchase one now.

These are the games I intend to get (as in actually buy with real money) on the day I get it:

1. Dead or Alive: Dimensions
2. Ridge Racer 3D
3. Cave Story 3D

I'll *probably* end up getting Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Starfox 64 3D and Super 3D Land at some point down the line.

I know that I'm * definitely* going to be getting Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate as soon as it gets released. This is for 100% certain, that game looks totes amazeballs.

So, does anyone have any other recommendations. Btw, I've already tried Shinobi and it just ain't for me.

Get Super Mario the second you get the 3DS. There's no better game for the system.

So far i have:

Star Fox (awesome remake, really nice 3D effect too, well worth getting especially as it can be found cheap. Near perfect gameplay.)

Mario 3D Land (Should be an insta purchase really. Reminded me of Mario 3 in a lot of ways.)

Mario Kart 7 (One of the best in the series for a long time. Really nice graphics too, which suprised me.)

Castlvevania Order of Ecclesia (DS), pretty damn cool, not one of my fav Castlevania games though.

Pilotwings (Not bad, very relaxing and good to pick up and play for a short period.)

So, Mario, Mario Kart and Starfox i can highly recommend!

I can't wait to see how they all look on the 3DS XL, def gonna pick one up at launch with the NSMB 2 and soon after Castlevania and Resi Evil! :)

Dead or Alive and Ridge Racer are okay but i think there are better games out there. Dead or Alive was fun but def try the free demo first.

good choice to get the 3dsxl. the 3ds is awesome. i am waiting for the xl as well and have already sold my old one, which kind of sucks cuz i miss the damn thing badly.

i´d pick:
super mario 3d land

mario kart 7 - those two games are must haves and replay value is insane -

pilotwings resorts (seriously. it is a great relaxing after work game)

LoZ Ocarina of Time - so good

starfox - great remake, great gameplay, annoying slippy!

e-shop: mutant mudds, mighty switch force, colors 3d,

upcoming: castlevania, nsmb2, luigis mansion, animal crossing, paper mario, epic micky and many many more

maybe not your thing but i believe rhythm thief and FF theatrhythm will be fun games too.

there are also tons of great ds games to pick too but don´t get me started on that. countless games.

tbh i bought or will buy any of these and more...i love the 3ds.

Yeah... Nintendo first-party IP games just don't really appeal to me all *that* much, tbh. Must be the Mega Drive/Gamer Gear fanboy in me still kicking around.

...still - super mario 3d land is a must have. it shows the 3d effect the best. it is a breeze to play through the game. imho it is an instant classic. i doubt you wont find enjoyment in it...mario kart as well. like monkey said - a great one of the series and my personal favourite MK this far - you might need to give it some time though. if you are not instantly hooked - keep playing, it clicks and you´ll love it forever. i like RR too (or used to love it. the vita version ruined it for me - and the lack of rumble in RR7 and the shitty customization it had which i do not need in a RR game turned me off as well) - but i doubt RR 3ds comes even close to the great presentation of mk7. it is tons of fun too.
Those two games are just pure fun and can really be enjoyed by everyone: Starfox and Zelda kind of a re a love/ hate affair. same with pilotwings...

i hear you though - but to me those ninty games have such an awesome presentation and it is so much fun to play games on the 3ds that i can even enjoy a "game" like nintendogs on it. seriously. relaxing stuff.

i am pretty sure that the 3ds will make you fall in love with nintendo first party ip´s all over again.

i cannot wait for castlevania though. it looks great!

the luigis mansion gameplay looks insaneley great too!

No love for Resident Evil? And one of my favorites when the lust for slashing away urges underway, albeit repetitive but fun, is Samurai Warriors (from the Warriors series).

Cave Story is fantastic! And MK7 really is a nobrainer - funfunfun! :)

hmmm...might have to get cace story as well, never played it.

RE is a great game but i never was a huge RE fan (loved 4 though). i played Revelations, it was good, no question about that but i prefer to play different games on the 3ds...it´s not a game i can replay over and over again like many other 3ds games i have...and for a handheld system replay value is the key imo.

Have any of you played the original New Super Mario Bros on a 3DS? if so, how does it look? I'm far more interested in that game than either NSMB2 or SM3DL, but if it looks wonky I might just give it a miss.

i have. looked just as good on the 3ds...on the dsxl you will be able to play it in the original screen size too....i believe when pressing start and select at the same time the picture will decrease to the original ds screen size. great game too, for sure

Okay, good to know - I'll add that to the list. Really looking forward to playing Dead Or Alive: Dimensions and Ridge Racer 3D in particular, though.

Check out the reviews for those two games - they're *all* really positive.

I just hope we get a 2D Metroid experience for 3DS before too long.

i am officially freaking out now. i already sold my white 3ds almost 2 weeks ago and i preordered the red xl...i´m not having a 3ds atm. i cannot wait. i freaking miss my daily 3ds fix so much, i just love that little machine. it´s such a great little handheld. brandnew copies of theatrhythm FF and rhythm thief are starring at me right now and i cannot play them....just one more week...arrrrrrrrgh

Mine are:

Metroid 2d on 3d plain
Castlevania (metroidvania style)
FF7 remake (prob a good chep way to rerelease obs in 3d)
Mario world sequel
F Zero
Wave Race 64 remake
Starfox 64 sequel
Smash Bros
Chibi Robo game cube or new game

Etc, etc...! :)

Also, I can't wait for the 3DS XL!!!

well thats an IMPRESSIVE list...i would totally sign it!

also i cannot wait for all the already announced games, that impressive list of castlevanina, luigis mansion, animal crossing, paper mario etc etc.

level 5´s fantasy life looks interesting too, as well as renegade kid´s planet crashers...

let´s see what else?

there´s a rumor right now that nintendo is trying to get rare back...that´ll totally add a banjo-kazooie game to my list too

the rumored link to the past remake/sequel in a spirit tracks/ phantom hourglass kinda gameplay style

majoras mask remake

well that´s becoming a lot of zelda now and i do not think it´ll be a good idea to do all these....i just cannot decide which i´d like to see the most...i really think wind waker would be a perfect game for the 3ds or a new zelda game in that cel shaded style...

donkey konk country 3ds

donkey kong jungle beat 3ds (i am digging rhythm games atm)

i also enjoyed capcom´s killer 7 and would like to see a sequel for that one - that cel shaded look would also be great looking on the 3ds i believe

super mario sunshine remake

eternal darkness sequel - or for the wiiu, yeah i wish this would be on the wiiu

there are probably more...but i´m off to work now.
