   I know this isn't related to video games but I was just interested to know what music you guys listen too. I've just got Muse tickets this morning on the pre-sale and I'm very hyped.

   So for me I listen to a fair few bands, I lean towards the rock and alternative side of things with bands like Muse and a fair bit of drum and bass with bands like Pendulum (not dubstep as much although I find some of it good). Noting wrong with a bit of Daft Punk either. So I listen to a fair few genres but very little pop, I don't really follow the charts at all.

   So, what does anyone else listen too?

   Man where i do begin, different styles within rock, hellowen, iron maiden,megadeth, metallica, ac/dc, judas priest, stratovarious, gamma ray, sonata artica, nightwish, death, napalm death,children of bodoom, sepultura (old records before the split), trivium, green day, my chemical romance, offspring, slayer, anthrax, ratos de porao, rage against the machine, dream theater, kings of lion, testament, overkill, pantera, and a ton more, add the old ones like aerosmith and rolling stones too.

   So a fair few bands then :P Of those you listed I listen to (most of them not that regularly) Metallica, AC/DC, Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Offspring, Rage Against the Machine and Aerosmith. I'm not a massive fan of Heavy Metal in all honesty.

   I like songs in all different genres of music, but I mostly listen to hip-hop ( a lot of 90's hip hop). Also, I fucking HATE pop/top 40.

   I generally listen to stuff that makes me go 'What. The. Fuck?' on first listen. Polyrhythms, compound timing, use of dissonance, basically stuff that challenges the listener and has musical/rhythmical layers to unravel.

   Botch, Keelhaul, Mastodon, Zappa, Genesis (Gabriel era), Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Primus, Tool, Radiohead, These arms are snakes, Fugazi, Matts/Morgen, Ivo Papasov, etc..

   I also dig classic thrash, up to around '90, older hip-hop like Goats, Wutang, House of Pain, Funkdoobiest, New Kingdom, Pharcyde, and a healthy dose of 60's/70's progressive underground.

   Pop ain't my bag either.

   Movie soundtracks,composers such as Hans Zimmer,Alan Silvestri,Dario Marianelli and also Solar Fields(Magnus Birgersson)the man who did soundtrack for Mirror's Edge and Capsized,really beautiful ambient,atmospheric music and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes that kind of stuff.

    all time fave bands: LUNGFISH and FUGAZI....
    i listen to a lot of the dischord bands.
    SHELLAC i love too and BIG BLACK, rapeman. the albini bands.
    i am kind of old skool.
    i also like some 90´s east coast rap artists.
    i have a hardcore scene background, was very active in that scene and played in several bands.
    i still listen to some 90´s 00´s hc bands from time to time like burn, gorilla biscuits, texas is the reason. and to newer hc stuff like VERSE or DEFEATER.
    ANTELOPE, FARAQUET...great bands too.
    i also like JOHNNY CASH and i am having a soft spot for IAN BROWN...
    MORRISSEY is a very relevant artist as well with a good attitude. i love musicians with a message.
    some indy bands like PAVEMENT i like too (again, trapped in the 90´s)
    well there´s much more...i could go on namedropping bands for hours i guess...i have to say though that i do not listen to that much music anymore. i am planning to do that more again in the future. i wanna discover new bands.
    i also had a 60´s soul/ northern sould phase...there have been some great great bands in that aera!

    The great thing about being a metalhead is that you make a jacket that tells everybody what you like the most.

    Mine is telling everyone that I like Gotham City, Acid, Dissection, Evil, Carnivore, Motörhead, Brocas Helm, Gehennah, Bathory, Holy Terror, Nifelheim, Watain and Killer.

    But that's really just a few. Rainbow, Dark Angel and Hirax deserve to be on there too.

    I'll listen to anything if people put their heart into it though. Johnny Cash, Kyuss, Foo Fighters, Erik Satie, Nina Simone, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Tom Waits.

    They really are geniuses. They started out as fusion jazz musicians. Then they decided it wasn't noisy enough, so now they're doing... That.

    They're even overlooked back in Denmark, and that's where they're from! I think they're actually better known in Texas for killing at SXSW.

    Most of the time i listen to film or videogame soundtracks. I actually prefer music without any singer, that really tunes up my imagination.

    I don't really have a favorite composer, but i mostly listen to the work of Kyd, Zimmer and Yamaoka.

    Currently i'm listening back and forth between Max Payne 3, inFamous 2, Deus Ex Human Revolution, Shadows of the Damned, Drive and Inception.

    Oh and the Soundtrack of Season 2 of Game of Thrones.

    I've been listening to a band called Dancing Lotus. Not the best stuff in the world but if you give it a try it'll grow on you. The best one they;ve done is probably Kings of Men. Found them though a youtube guy I'm subscribed to (watch?v=Lm7P_a76Tgk). There's this other band called Penguins kill polar bears, which is alright but not great. Then 'The Twang' (watch?v=sEnkIctM-Eo) is pretty nice too. Then I'm also getting into 'Puddle of Mudd'(watch?v=xJJsoquu70o). Try some of them out.
    Edit :O no ones mentioned FEEDER! WTF?
    Edit oh yeah then theres also Theory of a Deadman which is in my playlist right now.

    Definitely, Triggerhappy. The Black Keys are brilliant.

    If I had to make a very general statement as to why rock n roll (mostly) sucks today, it's because musicians have forgotten that the whole foundation for that music is the blues.

    If it doesn't have that rhythm, then it just doesn't hit people as deep. And I think the only way to really get there, is by applying anything but your head to how you play.

    Too many to list really.

    My all time fav is Scorpions. Going back their early days all of the way on up to the newest stuff.

    I like almost everything, from Berry, Holly, and other early Rock and Roll all of the way on up to Shinedown.

    Mostly I like Metal, but not the stuff that goes so far out of its way to be different and edgy. I don't have an axe to grind anymore and don't need my tunes to show I am pissed off at the world lol.

    What I do NOT enjoy is hip-hop or rap. Just have zero use for that. I am not Ghetto, I am not Gangster, hell I am not even urban. I just can't get into it. I am not a Country Western fan either. Tho I do enjoy a few acts that dable in the stuff I don't like. I like LP, but that is mostly because Chester Bennington is beyond amazing vocaly. I enjoy old Garth Brooks music, couldn't explain it, just do.

    Other things in my iPod right now include Styx, Van Morrison, Guns n Roses, Motley Crue, Rolling Stones, Beattles, Green Day, Bon Jovi, Posion, Alice Cooper, Boston, Scorpions, Shinedown, Disturbed, Cinderella, Aerosmith, Meatloaf, The Animals, Perl Jam, AC/DC, Jim Croce, Oasis, Skid Row, Led Zeplen, Cream, Queen, The YardBirds, and many many more.

    My tastes are all over the place. But mostly "I Love Rock n Roll"(Joan Jet) and "New wave, Old Wave, it's Still Rock N Roll to Me"(Billy Joel) are the ideals that I enjoy music by.

    @ASBI, yeah, one of my favourite all time musicians, he's the front man for The Wildhearts but that particular song is from his solo work.

    The original pledge project was for a 30 track triple album which was deleted at 555% of its goal (5 being Ginger's lucky number), the commercial version is titled 100% and the track list was voted for by 555% pledgers.

    Ever since i was like..what...5 years old or so i've been a hardcore fan of Michael Jackson, fan and supporter through and through. The man might be dead but his works of art will always live on. Can't wait for september when the Bad 25 special edition comes out with the Bad tour finally on DVD. That said...

    I dig all kinds of music. I have been loving alot of rap too for awhile, the kind of rap with thought provoking lyrics and you know, the more 'deep' songs. But now and then i could enjoy some club tracks and 'nonsense' tracks as well, just for the music basically. I can also really apreciate Singer/Songwriters like Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash, John Hiatt and so on. And recently i 'discovered' Iron Maiden. I was always under the wrong impression that this was some loud heavy metal, you know...similar to Slipknot and the likes. Something i can't stand at all. But i was surprised to how great their music sounds,i'm definitely gonna be checking out more of those.

    Anyway...with rap i meant..
