For me it was a close call between The Last of Us & Tombraider.
Both have great visceral combat, great looking environments and interesting central characters.
In the end though The Last of Us nabs it. The script works so well in the gameplay demo I saw and it was reassuring to see the AI partner doesn't just stand back, getting into trouble, but jumps in to plant a knife in some enemies unsuspecting back.
And tbh, I wasn't expecting the combat to be quite so brutal! Environment kills, choking and immolation?! Tense, desperate and oh so satisfying ;-)
