I love the Euro or any international tournaments. I doubt the French will finish fourth place considering their disastrous world cup campaign. I think it will go:

I'm English and I don't expect us to do well at all this tournament, I could easily see us not getting past the group stage as France are a decent team and Ukraine are one of the hosts.

Someguy 2, france is right now since Blank coaching undefeated, and they have a good midfield with great attackers, now the only thing that concerns me is the defense and the lack of one creative midfielder ( i dont think nasri is fit for the creative position), but either way i think they are going to be a nice surprise, watch out from france i say.
viralshag, england has a good team, but i dont know rooney cannot play in the first three games i think, and that will narrow their chances a lot, also barry will not be in the midfield, the only one left that is as good as barry as a contension midfielder is parker, but i dont think he can do the work alone, we will need support, lampard and gerard are not that great in defending positions, so who knows, plus they had a tough group, i hope they do well, but it seems hard.
For a competition that's had winners in recent history, such as 'the team who didn't even qualify', Denmark, and more recently, Greece, it's silly to make predictions at this stage.

It's funny because that was my EXACT thought after seeing the list of players for Euro.And yes I know those facts about Downing and I m still shocked that he is on that list cause there are far better players to be there instead of him.
@someguy2 Chamberlain seems to be new and improved Theo :) (even faster but more importantly stronger than Walcott)and as yourself I hope he will actually get to play.

Ye he didn't play for a couple of games towards the end of the season but I still think he's better than Glen Johnson and if not he should of at least been the second choice right back. Some of the picks are questionable. like you've said, there were plenty of players that should of been chosen over Downing.

Even more so when you consider that Walcott gets so much stick, even when he's playing well, scoring goals and getting assists.
I don't see Waddle writing opinion pieces on how useless Downing is...
Also, I think the Ox is looking like he can be one of the best in the world. Much better than Walcott, but the comparison is difficult, because they're actually two very different players. Walcott wants to be a striker, like Henry, but the Ox's natural position is as an AM/F C.
With Gibbs, Walcott, the Ox and Wilshere, Arsenal and England should do well over the next few years...

I don't think any of the big names are essential for England to do well, or more accurately not to do badly, to be honest. For how many years have we had one of the best teams on paper that has continually under performed?
One of the best, if not the best, leagues in world with some of the most amazing players and yet you bring them together and often it's painfully dull, uninspired and so lacking in any fire or passion it's hard to get behind the team.
But like all England fans, despite all that, I'm just going to grin and bear it and pray the football gods they actually perform better than they did against Norway... I mean they have to... otherwise we're fucked, basically.

I think Italys chances are reducing right now, with all the problems in that league, and the investigators keep calling some national team players too, now buffon (goalkeaper), this will affect their chances a bit, and now England is missing lampard,they had a tough time with roney already missing the first couple of games, alongside with barry injury and now this.
The netherlands lost that group will be hard now, one of my dark horses won, i think with a tie, denmark has a relly strong chance to made it, the key game will be against portugal.
Spain Italy had problably the best match of the tourtnament so far, pretty impress on Italy performance, the game could end up side with either team both had strong scoring chances, although Spain look tough in the later sections of the game, croacia won and is the leader of this group.
Today we have France Vs England, it could be another great match,the sad thing is i cannot see it T_T, iam at work

Very good result for England in my opinion. I expected to lose to be honest but we played quite well. No less than two wins against Ukraine and Sweden now. C'mon England! :D
