   i am enjoying the hell out of some psn store games right now. i am thinking about upgrading to ps+. it seems to be a good deal but there´s one thing i don´t know. would be great if someone could help.

   example: there was sly 1 for free as a ps+ deal in march. would i still be able to download this game for free if i join the club now? or can i, if i join ps+ in may only download the may offers and then june, july and so on?
   do the offers expire?

   couldn´t find anything on the net. wasn´t that keen on looking it up though...

   Yeah, I think it's only the items from your sub onwards, there is an expiration on the monthly deals too if I recall, when you select an item it'll say "this item available free to PS+ subs until xx/xx/xxxx, I think you get about a month, so even if you could get previous weeks stuff I don't think it'd go back as far as March.

   Yeah as above. Though if you want something one month and can't be bothered to download it yet you can add it to your queue, cancel and then redownload at a later date from you transaction list.

   What you get out of PSN+ will also depend on the volume of stuff you have bought over the last couple of years too. If you buy a lot then you may find some months a bit barren. It's still pretty damn good value for the money though. £3.33 a month here.

   i didn´t download much. i just recentley repurchased a ps3 and enjoy it more than ever before atm. just stardust, wipeout, some psp games and one or two games more...was able to download those purchases again without a problem.

   too bad i missed that sly cooper deal...i guess i will wait a little more then. the may deals are not for me.

   I don't know if this is correct but I read somewhere that if you subscribe to PS+ for, let's say 3 months, when the subscription ends you will no longer be able to play the free PS+ games.

   And I have a question to ask because I'm thinking to buy a PS3 on xmas, if I subscribe to PS+, the free games are available as long as I am a PS+ subscriber or do they have an expiration date? And if I interrupt the subscription for 1 month and re-subscribe a month later will I lose my free stuff?

   @cybermarco: i looked into it now. if you´ve bought/ or downloaded them for free you own them forever. even if you buy a new console you can always download them again, with the profile you purchased / downloaded them from. you don´t need to be a ps+ member for that then.
   only the ps+ offers expire/ regulary change. example: sly cooper 1 for free for 30 days for + members...after that you have to pay the full 9,99 or whatever for it again. so if you are a ps+ guy it´s best to check the offers regulary.

   and yea get a ps3. i was a 360 guy and only rareley used the ps3 this gen but it changed. now i use my ps3 much more. there´s just much much more variety.

   PS+ occasional delivers a gem (the aforementioned Sly being the latest). But it mostly dumps a buttload of diabolical Minis on you and the occasional PSOne game. I now have about 75 Minis, of which precisely none have deserved more than three minutes' play. In the last few weeks we've been given a few Creat/Tik Games titles - you know, the ones that never sell because they're a bit crap.

   The only reason I renewed late last year? I didn't know there was an automatic renewal you had to opt out of. Was NOT amused.

   I don't remember what month was but PS+ was giving for free Shift 2 Unleashed and Trine 2. Maybe they were like the Sly one, you play for 1 month.

    @sg1974 - I disagree. Of course you're going to get minis here and there. Some of them (like Hungry Giraffe) are surprisingly good and fun. The 'occasional gem's are more frequent than you make out. Just last month we had Shank 2 and Trine 2 (oh yeah and NFS-Shift2 ^ thanks!) - all completely free. Resi 2 & 3 also.

    As DrDamn states, it's £3.33 a month - probably less in the States (?). If anyone says that's not worth it they must have a very narrow-minded view on what games are for them.

    Just to clarify the games and ownership point. Any *games* which are free are only playable whilst you have an active PS+ membership. E.g. I downloaded Shift2. I can play it until my PS+ sub expires, but not after. Any avatars and themes they give away are yours to keep forever and any *purchases* you make with a PS+ discount are yours too. So for example if you bought Journey at a discount due to your PS+ sub and the sub expires that game is still yours.

    Agree - there have been too many gems in recent months. I still have loads to work through. TR:Legend(one of them anyway), Trine2, Fat Princess, Shift2, Sly, Awesomenauts. There was a bumper month with 8 or 9 games last month and some smaller gems in there like the Mah Jong game.

    @doc: seriously? i phoned sony support yesterday (had a question about other sony equippment i have anyway) and he told me i will be able to keep everything even if my + expired...after your post i looked it up yet again on the net now and it seems like you are right and the support guy was wrong ;-)
    it still seems to be a good deal though. i will wait for a good month to start, with many games i like and will begin with the 3 month "trial" and put off the automatic renewal.

    So to make it clear, you'll be able to play those free games as long as you are a PS+ member, and if you interrupt the subscription and re-apply for it later you still have those games to play, right?

    Sorry if this was answered before but it is a little tricky to understand all of this!

    Sorry for the bump, but I have a question related to PS+.

    When you subscribe you can download the games that are currently available to play. So, they are stored in the PS3 HDD. To play those games do you have to be connected to PSN or not?

    ^ No. In fact they're playable to any account on that PS3 too, as long as the one that downloaded it still has Plus.

    Because Plus counts down on your account whether you're online or not, its like the timer is on your system itself. Games can detect this and follow suit.
