Got my copy yesterday in the mail from eBay ($55 flat, what a steal of a deal) put in some solid hours last night.
I have to say I am VERY impressed to see not only how Infinity Ward brought back split-screen local multi-player (in addition to online obviously), but also how simple and well done they've done it. You can play up to 4 players at a time on one system and it's as simple as selecting "split screen" from the multiplayer menu and pressing button on whichever controler wants to join in (not sure if those 4 local players can then play online as well, have to look more into it but THAT would be tits).
I know local multi-player is not as popular as it used to be with everything being online these days, but I personally feel this is a major part of gaming that has been wrongfully neglected in many current gen multiplayer titles. Don't get me wrong, online multiplayer is amazing fun and a now standard requirment, but there are times when, for example, my bro-in-law comes over who doesn't own any current gen systems, and we wanna play together like the old Goldeneye N64 days. And now with huge HDTVs, the split screen portion is bigger and easier to see than ever before.
Again, some of you may laugh at split-screen local multiplayer and see it as a thing of the past, but I would disagree and argue that it should be at least an option to cover those times when you may have people over and want to play TOGETHER rather than just watching 1 person play online.
Infinity Ward has stepped up to the plate and I feel delivered every possible option you could want in a multiplayer game. MAJOR kudos to the team behind this game.
Just wanted to throw this out there.
Thanks!
