It's gonna get funded in time, but since all excess pledges are only going to make the game better, I feel it's worth beating the drum about.
I've gone in for 35 bucks, for two main reasons.
1) It looks creepy. Pretty much the last hack and slash that looked creepy was Diablo 2. Today it's all about happy clappy dungeoneering in cartoon fantasy lala-land. This ain't, and I like it.
2) It's genuinely indie, but it's also a few guys from Iron Lore, who did Titan Quest.
I wasn't a huge fan of Titan Quest, but I admire it for the same reason guys like OlderGamer really loved it. They made an effort in letting you fine tune your character, and the reason why I didn't get into it was because the world was mostly empty and the NPCs just stood around like statues, with exclamation marks over their heads.
Grim Dawn looks a lot more colorful and vibrant, so I'm thinking this just might be the perfect blend of nerdy tuning, carefully crafted mechanics, and visceral hack and slash goodness.
It's slightly high for a Kickstarter, starting at 18 bucks, but personally I can't wait to see it.
