it´s an older story, but it just happened to me: all that fifa 12 stuff. never had the game. a few achievements have been unlocked on my account and some fifa12 purchases with my ms points have been made. credit card wasn´t touched. i quickly changed all passwords. you should be careful too and change your xbl passwords. really. this shit aint over yet. they hack your accounts, buy that fifa ultimate "whatever" team codes with existing ms points, in some cases even with your credit card and resell them on ebay. i am not amused about the ms support. they are not a big help. they wouldn´t even let me temporarly delete my credit card info! i phoned them several times. they don´t even further investigate it atm, because i do not have the console anymore (sold it), and do not have a new one just yet. they say they need the serial number. they say they also need my account to be online on a console to further investigate. if my new 360 will arrive (just ordered a new one) they will investigate by locking my account for up to 30 days. yuhuuu: no online gaming for me.
wow. only 10 euros or so have been spent/ hacked. i am not sure if i wanna take all this fuss just to get those 10 euros back. i would have expected an apology from ms and maybe something like a halo reach download code as compensation, something like that. well – nothing. they even cannot delete the gamerscore the hacker unlocked. what are they doing for me? i know how to change my password, thank you for helping me with that, don´t need that info. my account has been hacked! it is a big deal imo. nothing happened to my sony accounts during that hack, noone played games with my account and unlocked trophies i myself never unlocked. here i lost real money too and ms leaves me in the rain. thx for nothing...

Happened to my bro a couple of months back too, though I think he was out of pocket by about £40. Took him aaages to get his money/points back, and no compensation of any kind.
I love how the Sony 'hack' drew the attention and criticism of the whole freaking world (despite the fact that I don't know a single affected person) and yet something like this that has actually affected quite a few people I know has been kept relatively quiet and brushed under the proverbial carpet.
Has there ever been an official statement from MS?
Posted 1 year ago # -
exactly. this is strange indeed. before this happened to myself i didn´t really even take notice of it - and i check gaming related news almost every day. the sony haxx were even mentioned in the main telly news, articles in big political magazines and newspapers. all that full blown media stuff, not only gaming related media. this here: not much to be found anywhere. i do not know about an official ms statement. in my case they seem to not even believe me that it wasn´t myself buying that shit really. just because i do not have the serial number of the console anymore? imo they should do their homework at least.

So how does this happen? You left your details on a old console?
Posted 1 year ago # -
i first thought that could have been the case. but it is not the first time i sold a console and i was actually pretty sure that i deleted everything from the harddrive, like i always do. i just thought there was a connection, just because i recently sold it and then a few weeks later it happened. then i researched that fifa12 stuff and found out that the exact same thing happened to a lot of other people on their own consoles they use every day. now i was even more sure that it had nothing to do with me not deleting my profile/data from the harddrive.
it seems to be mostly china based hackers that log into your account to get those fifa ultimate team codes which you can perfectly resell on ebay because they are not connected to the account which bought it.
it happened to many people, everywhere in the world. random hacks. you do not need to have the game to enjoy the pleasures of getting hacked.
the ms support guy kind of talked me into this. said probably my own fault. he never mentioned that fifa12 stuff is something they know about. but if you look at the fifa12 related achievement unlocks and the purchases on my account, you´ll see that it is exactly like it always is with these hacks. it is exactly like people describe it. he should´ve told me at least that they are aware of these issues and should have tried to help me. instead they tried to make it look like it was my fault and did not do nothing to solve the problem.Posted 1 year ago # -
So you're none-the-wiser about the cause?
My bro thinks it was due to a hacked EA server where he had previously entered his details for some previous game - I forget which.
I think regardless of the cause Microsoft should have made SOME sort of announcement to protect their customers. Oh, but let's not forget that they're making money from all these fraudulent purchases. Can't turn away free money right?
The fact that this is still happening now, months on, and that nobody seems to have a decent explanation as to why or how, baffles me.
I would love to be corrected on this if I'm missing something btw.

i agree and i would love to be corrected on this too if anyone knows something. they definiteley should have made some sort of announcement regarding this issues. i have an ea account too. i believe i made it for battlefield ages ago. but i don´t really "activeley" use it. there seems to be a connection but who knows since they wont oficially tell you.
it really just happened to me a week ago or so. i doubt that i am the only one, and that the problem has been solved.Posted 1 year ago # -
Where do you guys think my love for Sony/Nintendo comes from?
I play mostly PC, but I will never own another MS system. EA can also go take a long walk off of a short pier as far I am concerned.
Sometimes I miss the old NES, SNES, MD/Gen, TG16, NEOGEO, PS1, N64 and Saturn days. Now you need a cc, an account and have to leave yourself open to play.

just called again. i don´t have the serial number of the old console anymore. so.......they cannot do anything for me. WTF! helloooo: someone stole money from my account. i pay a monthly fee for that account. they cannot do anything to solve this problem? this is a serious issue- at least in my book. shouldn´t they protect my account? i think so. instead they just don´t give a shit. ok i can understand that the serial number can be helpful but it shouldn´t be necessary to at least investigate in this issue. i mean if it is they definiteley have an even more serious security problem. this really isn´t inspiring confidence. there´s absoluteley nothing they are willing to do. i would so love to shout this from the rooftops.

It's kind of a shame that your credit card wasn't touched, as then at least you would be able to approach your bank and initiate a fraud claim through them. That's what my bro did and though it took a while, he eventually got all monies refunded, an extra 200 MS points, and two free months of XBL. Props to MS for that, but what of the people who have had pre-existing points raped by these fuckwit Fifa hackers? Yeah, you're pretty much screwed.
From the brief time I spent looking into this, I would guess that your XBL login details have been lifted from a third-party server (such as EA) at some point. Microsoft must have had more than a few people calling them up about this, and as such I fail to believe that they don't have a pretty good idea as to how this has come about.
We all know that XBL is bullet-proof and could NEVER be hacked ; ) and their lack of official comment certainly backs up the idea that the details haven't directly been lifted from them.
Regardless, in the interest of their customers you'd think that they would at least try to HELP the people affected, and to prevent future incidents.
I've only ever briefly owned a 360. It felt cheap, was noisy as hell, and I soon got rid. They will never be a part of my gaming life, and I don't feel they have added anything to the industry as a whole. I know Sony have their share of problems, but MS (and EA - thanks OG) are like a cheap pair of jeans covered in diarrhoea that just won't wash out.

hehe. yea yea...but those bastards got halo and i love halo, i feel like a chaindog. seriously. i wont give up. i´ll have another round of ms "support" phonecalls in the next days. they just HAVE TO come up with something.

Posted 1 year ago # -
So,uh GTFIFA / FIFA PHishing Pro LOL
finally someone at least tried to help me at ms support. was a good guy. we also had a nice chat about some sony exclusives and gears 3. they investigate now. that´s something i wanted them to do in the first place. not more. not too much to ask in a case like this imo. he sent a complaint/ case info to ms usa. doesn´t mean that i get a refund or anything at all. maybe yea maybe not. but now they at least pretend that they take this shit seriously. i´ll post here what will be the final verdict of ms usa about all this. if anyone´s interested. i for one expect some kind of refund and a sorry. i´ll soon find out. 3 to 5 days.
oh yea...the guy from ms support kind of confirmed to me that it has something to do with the EA data. i changed everything passwordwise there too.
Posted 1 year ago # -
That's good to hear man. I've got a EA account too... Might have to change some details... Not that I'm too worried. Who's ever heard of PSN being hacked? ;-)
Posted 1 year ago # -
good thing about this is that i checked all my important online accounts and changed the passwords. was kind of secure before imo but feels even more safe now. crazy how many accounts i have. crazy.

just wanted to quickly update this...
after several ms customer service calls, the case got (FINALLY!) checked by mircosoft usa.
result is an apology for inconvenience and they´ve also sent me a code for 4000 ms points. that´s really fair and i didn´t expect that. as far as i can reconstruct it the hacker only stole something like 800 points or so from me but i am not completeley sure of how many points i had. definiteley not 4000, never had that many. i feel like a xbl millionaire now.
so in the end all´s good.
they didn´t delete the fifa 12 achievements though. i wish they would´ve, because it wasnt me but the hackers playing the game. i don´t want this achievements and activity in my account...but i can live with that.
only thing that sucked was that i really had to be a pain in the ass to get that refund. i called about 6 times. i understand that it was problematic because i didnt own the 360 anymore i owned when the account was hacked. upgraded to slim and sold my elite. still i wish they would´ve taken that much more seriously right from the start. my account was hacked. it is kind of a big deal imo. my credit card information is saved on that account. they didn´t do a thing at first, just wanting to help me getting my password changed and to activate other security stuff...which i had already done immediately after i found out about the hack anyway.
4000 points is a welcome and fair apology though. i´ll probably spend them on max payne3 mp maps, save some for halo 4 maps and get fez or the walking dead or both...it all comes back to you anyway ms. thx.

I recommend FEZ, trials evolution, orcs must die, iron brigade and toy soldiers cold war
P.S And glad they solve the problem in a very neat way, i hope they will do the same to all the people that have the same situationPosted 1 year ago # -
thx manu. i also hope it turns out good for everyone "experiencing" the same troubles. all i can say is...keep calling them. sometimes another employee will do a better job than another. sad but true. but that´s just normal i guess.
gameswise i will probably get fez first. still have lots of stuff i need to play/ finish on the vita though! still havent finished wipeout, rayman origins, motorstorm rc and wanted to get escape plan and mutant blobs too, super stardust is still fun and i need to play most of the advance pack/ mini game stuff, which i havent touched yet....then there´s resistance burning skies, mortal kombat, gravity rush for vita too, and max payne for 360. so many games - not enough time!
