   Hello everybody, I just installed Windows 8 Consumer Preview on my PC and I can say that it SUCKS!

   I can't see how this OS can work with computers when it's obviously built for touch-enabled devices like tablets. I find it very difficult to navigate from screen to screen and to do simple task as opening My Documents folder, changing settings from the Control Panel and what not.

   I don't think I'll be jumping on the Windows 8 wagon, even if my university provides me free Microsoft software (like Windows XP-Vista-7 etc...).

   What do you think?

   I've tried it out for a couple of weeks now, and i started off like you, just hating it. But once i got into it, it actually seemed pretty OK. Plus my computers performance in SC2 and SWTOR increased by about 20-30%! Which is pretty damn awesome.
   I want to add that Microsoft has released a document, showing some of the most used shortcuts in Windows 8.

   Well, maybe I had a rough start. There were some things that I really liked, like the new enhanced task manager and the window-merging thing when you copy multiple files.

   But there were some major flaws, like dragging the whole window from the top to the bottom to close it, or the way you change from one open window/folder/app to another from the left side of the screen. I was searching for about 15 min to find a way to put My documents in the metro-style start menu, but no success. Maybe it's just a matter of time till I get used to it.

   It would be more useful (for me at least) if Microsoft had made two versions, one for tablets and one for pc's.

   P.S. Dear VG24/7 why do I have to type that irritating captcha box every time I want to post a reply? Isn't the account that I have more than enough to validate me as a human person and not as a spam-bot?

   @CyberMarco: Been irritating me as well. Wouldn't it be enough to have users entering a captcha when they are registering?

   The captcha is there because before it was there we were removing dozens of spam entries per day. Now it's more like a few per month.

   It's a shame, because Windows 7 is such a great OS, and that's coming from a life-long Mac user.

   They need to give people the option to NOT use the stupid touch screen ui on a desktop machine. It's not hard to do and it's obvious this issue is just going to annoy users for no reason.

   @Kabby, i think after installation there will be a choice with more of the traditional desktop and that shitty touch screen UI.

   If they won't do that, than they are doomed more than when they released Windows Vista.

    All I know is the default Windows desktop is there & I believe there are options to disable the Metro theme.

    @Christopher Jack, I hope so. Another good thing about windows 8 is the boot time. Combined with an SSD drive your system shuts down in less than 5secs.

    wow!! i watched the video on Microsoft's website.....it is so awesome.....i loved it....perhaps it will help Microsoft regain spotlight .....my be to some extent....

    My friend installed it and we looked over it via me watching his screen :)

    We both came to the same conclusion... it's shit for PC. You can see it was designed solely for touch screens, which is fine but that doesn't mean they market it as the next big upgrade. It's just win7 with a touch screen menu.

    p.s Also the fact that you have to use a messenger account to login is shocking

    You can just turn the touch screen thingy off, and you don't have to log into a Live account, i haven't. Plus i got improved performance (about 20-35% depending on the game). So i would say it is an upgrade from Windows 7. Plus this version actually supports multimonitors natively to some extend xD
