I need to buy a 13" (or smaller) laptop with an optical drive by Monday. Can anyone recommend one? Must run Windows 7. UK only.

Why under 13"? You understand that no true ultrabook will be large enough for one. If you really need a compact design, I'd suggest getting an external disk drive.

Why does it need an optical drive?

Because I borrowed a 13" laptop with an optical drive and it was stolen. Owner likes having a 13" laptop with an optical drive, so who am I to argue? Model is no longer made.

Well most things under 14" aim to be as compact as possible, hence have no optical drive so it'll be hard to find, what's your price range?

That sucks man, unfortunately Christopher Jack is right, nobody makes laptops that small with optical drives anymore, at least I couldn't find one.
Either you're going to have to buy a bigger one that does have a drive or buy a smaller one with an external.

Well see if you can find a compromise with whomever had their laptop stolen. Again, your main options are to either sacrifice a compact design for performance & the built in optical drive or go for a sub-13" notebook & grab an external disc drive.

if you take his mind off you losing his laptop then he may not care as much. I think the best thing to do is kill a member of his family so he forgets about the laptop. If you want to go the polite way about things I recommend checking ebay regularly. just keep checking ebay and explain that you will get him a laptop like the one he had once someone puts it up. My first suggestion is less intrusive though.

Got a Toshiba satellite had a mediocre Compaq piece of shit with piss weak stats but my sister wanted to play the Sims 3 so badly but there was little to no driver support for Intel HD GPUs (which is actually better than the dedicated PoS on my Compaq) but the Compaq was capable so we switched & I got the free upgrade: A decent i3 processor, LED backlighting, 500GB HDD & overall simply superior, only thing I preferred on my Compaq was HDMI out which this Toshiba lacks but I find VGA out good enough for my 32" screens around the house, anyone have any idea what's the mex resolution for VGA, claims 1080p but I don't believe that.
Overall, I really like Toshiba the only area that they really need improvement, imo, is using dedicated graphics cards. They start using them at a much higher price range then other competitors.Posted 1 year ago #
