So anyone tried the demo?
SSX is back!
only had the chance to make a couple of runs but so far the gamne is a blast.
Realy enjoying it so far and the SSX feel is back right there!
Also the online part of the game seems to be a ton of fun with a) the ghosts of your friends to beat and gain credits and b) those live events (unfortunately not open in the demo).
Im realy enjoying it so far!
Opinions?

Possibly the greatest thing ive played this year, still abit shit how it comes out a week before ME3

Long time SSX fan. Played it. Had a hard time un-learning previous SSX controls to adopt this new one. It's clicked now and I've racked up some good times and points. Really enjoying it. Day 1, no question. I like that the demo gives you a glimpse of RiderNet implementation too.
EA seem to have had a pretty busy start to the year - Star Wars, Amalur, SSX, Syndicate and ME3 yet to come.

JM: u tried the classic controlls?
i didnt try them myself but as far as i understand it should be more or less like the old ones.
afaik theres stick controll, button controll and classic control. but im not sure.will give it another go later today.
Not sure if day one (coz of my backlog) but im pretty much sold on this asap.Posted 1 year ago # -
mojo: Yup, I saw the classic controls option in the game but figured this game is probably designed around the new controls. I've got the hang of them now so I'm sure it'll be all good from here :)

I really don't see the appeal. The original SSX and Tricky were some of my favourite games of the time, but it feels like they've completely toned it down.
Instead of the crazy characters you have these serious looking snowboarders and instead of those wild and crazy levels, you have those pretty tame crevaces and mountain sides.
I really don't like it. Definitely what made me love SSX was the craziness, and some of the tricks are certainly still crazy, but it just felt incredibly boring flying down the mountain this time around.
Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance, but it definitely doesn't have that EA Sports BIG feel.

Exactly what DSB said.

Yeah I kinda agree with DSB and OlderGamer. It's fun to be back on the mountain, but some of the old magic is gone. Toned down colours, dull music, and no opportunities to snowboard through any office blocks.
It's a shame that nobody wants to bring back extreme fun.

dont understand u guys.
it makes for extreme fun exactly as it is now.hasnt been more excited for a game since a long time..
like lolshiock said "Possibly the greatest thing ive played this year".
Spent more time with the demo than with any full game this year besides the second GoW collection.Posted 1 year ago # -
If you look at something for what it isn't instead of what it is you're guaranteed to be disappointed. Doesn't matter what it is.

It's called SSX. So expecting it to be SSX is in no way unreasonable Joe. That's a lame ass excuse.
If they wanted to launch a brand new snowboarding game, they should've picked a different name. We didn't force that comparison, they did.

Didn't do anything for me either and I loved the original.
On the plus side this is what demos are for so I saved myself 40 quid :)

Oh well. I like it. It's more SSX than any other game this generation and a ton of fun for me.

Truly a boring game made for dumb folks.
SSX is one of my favourite games, but the DA demo doesn't have the same quality gameplay that the previous games did. The turning in SSX was very sharp and accurate but DA is very sluggish and it's near impossible to crash.
It's also a racing game without a proper track. They haven't learned from SSX Blur that generic mountains don't make for good racing or lines.
It's made for dumb people to make them feel like they are awesome even when the game is doing 90% of the work for them. See 4:40 onward:

Anyone got this on the PS3? I picked it up this morning but obviously haven't opened it yet.
It was bit of a random impulse purchase but I'm tempted to take it back now after I realised Tekken X SF is out next week...

@ Stardog - it sure does look difficult to 'crash' as such.
I would love a super realistic boarding game. All these tricks and ridiculous jumps aren't for me.
From watching that vid it looks like you can't even fall off a rail?!

That's that an extreme winter sports game should be like in my opinion, anyone play that back in the day? :P
