So, as the title says, I want to buy a gaming mouse. So far, I have decided on Saitek Cyborg R.A.T. 9, which I love because you can customise how heavy it is. Do you have any better ideas? Is this mouse good?

Hmm, I've heard their not the most reliable of mouses. I would personally go for http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/input_devices/steelseries_sensei_gaming_mouse_review/6

I tried the Razor Deathadder ReSpawn at i44 on the free PC's. I'm going to be getting it soon as I have a bit of spare cash. It feels really nice and it's not too expensive :)
However a friend bought the Cyborg at the same place and that was pretty sexy :P

I had a Saitek mouse before, never again.
Currently have a Razer something or other, happy with that.

My advise? Always go with a Razer. I will never buy another brand again, ever. No joke. Currently I am using the Naga and it's awesome.

Razor Deathadder all the way, trust me, its an awesome mouse.

Yes, the Deathadder has an amazing form/shape which just fits your palm. I rest my palm on the mouse when i'm doing nothing, cause its so comfortable :)
It is also one of the few mouses which supports both palm grip and claw grip.I also really wanted to try out the R.A.T 9, but couldn't afford it. Since many say it has problems, Why don't you consider Razer Mamba? Its the same exact shape as the Deathadder but has extra keys (DPI toggle which the Deathadder doesn't have :(| ) and a much higher res sensor. Its a bit cheaper than R.A.T 9 i guess.
The lift of distance isn't a problem with DA either.

Yeah, the Deathadder looks awesome, but is it more precise than the R.A.T. 9? I don't think I'll get a Naga, I'm not into MMO games, really, but the Deathadder sure is promising. I don't know what to say about Mamba, really, many think it is worse than Deathadder.
@freedoms_stain Why won't you go with a Saitek again? Is it really that bad?

Roccar Kone+. I replaced my Deathadder for one of these: http://www.roccat.org/Products/Gaming-Mice/ROCCAT-Kone-/
and wouldn't dream of going back :D

@SplatteredHouse I heard many great things about the Kone[+], and some friends reccomended it for me. Hmmm, I never considered buying one, but I'm really eager to find more about it :D

Ok, so after a bit of research and reading your comments, I narrowed my list to these 3: Razer Mamba, Roccat Kone[+] and Razer Deathadder. What do you say, which one is the best, based on your experience?

I bought a Roccat Kone[+] at Christmas there. I use my PC a LOT and for various different tasks, and I absolutely love it. It's weight adjustable (comes with 4 x 5g weights), very customisable (including LED lights), profile and DPI (upto 6000dpi) switching, macro functions, etc, etc. All in all a very good product and feels well made.

I have a Razer Deathadder as well. So comfortable.

Sadismek, I can't remember the name of the Saitek I had, it might've just been called the Cyborg, but it had motorised adjustable length and (I believe) adjustable tension mouse wheel (which was about the best feature on the thing). Despite having adjustable length I couldn't get the thing to be comfortable in my hand. I think Saitek put more effort into making their gear look like something that fell out Optimus Prime's arse than making it actually ergonomic. The thumb section was an utter clusterfuck of bad positioning.
Ultimately the thing that put me off more than anything else was the fact that the left mouse button became unreliable after about a year. One thing you absolutely cannot have as a gamer is a mouse that cannot left click reliably.
Don't forget that Saitek are a part of MadCatz, and the build quality seems to be about equivalent (poor).
After closer inspection (I flipped it over) my Razer is also a DeathAdder.
One thing I like about this mouse is that you can click pretty much anywhere on the front couple of inches of the mouse and it registers the click without too much pressure, so even if your fingers are not the longest you can still hold the mouse in your favoured grip and clicks will register reliably without your fingers having to be right at the front end of the mouse.

I'm currently using a Logitech G500 which is an excellent mouse and has treated me well for 2 years. But in that time I've tried a few Razers and they are..lovely.
It's mostly down to user preference seeing as there are so many good mice out there these days.

Well, being a fan of both FPS genre and mmos, never been more satisfied with my sexy Logitech MX518, I believe there's an upgraded version of the said model I think it was G400. Yes it's optical but pin-point precision. I have MX518 since it came out and when it died I went for it again. It's cheaper than most gaming mice but it worth more IMO. It also has program-abale macro keys which work perfectly with my games like WoW, CoD: MW2, BFBC2, L4D and L4D 2 and so on. I also have friends extremely happy with their Razors. So, try to figure out which model offers better comfort for you.

My GF is a fan of logitech and is currently using the G700. I had a go, seems a nice mouse (if you like lotsa buttons).
Me, I like to keep it simple, I'm using a steelseries Xai which I'd gladly recommend.
You need to find the right mouse/mousemat cmbination that suits you. Took me lots of attempts.. the mat is just as important as the mouse as we all have preferences on friction etc.

I really like how the Roccat Kone[+] looks like, and it sure has some power under the hood. I would really like to get it, since I think it would satisfy my gaming needs. Does it have any glitches, or hardware problems?

I have a Razer 'Imperator' and its very good. It does everything I need it to do well, there's nothing on it that feels flimsy and fits comfortably in the hand. Fairly expensive though.
(P.s I heard that the R.A.T. is a little flimsy, not sure on the reliability of that claim but there it is)Posted 1 year ago # -
Really depends upon your price range... Deathadder definitely at 50 bucks:

Wow talk about reviving an old thread... damn XD

Wow, haha. I can't believe someone actually dug this up after a year, but thanks for the (late) response, gamingdiva!

You can try a Razer Naga but it is a little small for some people and not ideal for all games. I like mine but its not for everyone.
Checkout the Steel series range but also stuff from Logitech. I generally don't rate cordless mice for gaming, either.
Best to think about what you find feels the nicest.
