What features would you like to see in the next gen consoles?

I'm not touching graphics or the actual power of the new systems with this post, I'm thinking of minor features that the current consoles don't have.
One feature I would love to see is the PC's screenshot/video recording ability in EVERY game. Halo 3/Reach has the ability to upload screenshots to Bungie.net, as well as render multiplayer games video saves, and a few games can upload a short video to youtube. I'd like to see that game recording/screenshot feature Halo has in every game.

If anyone has ever played on Onlive and watched gameplay over the Arena, and gameclips, it's a neat feature. It's just one thing I think would make the console experience a bit more fun.

Anyone else have ideas?

Silence. Silent like my N64 for example. Or as silent as my laptop when it's not used to run a game.

Please no browsers on 360, I mean, 720. I really don't need a sub-pat web browser with gamepad navigation., or use my Xbox to post on the internet at that. The app way is ideal, slick and easy to use.

Iam with Ireland here, good games and that all three focus on games rather than other media things, anything else will be a win in my eyes

Wanting good games is a given surely? Is their really no other thing on your mind about the new hardware, other than what software will be available?

How about control pads shaped like breasts? A game swap function, allowing you to trade dlc with other gamers (lol, as if!), or a multi-disc function to save you getting up so often?

"How about control pads shaped like breasts?", LOL well to tell you the truth i really dig back in the day the boomerang controller shown for the ps3 back in the day,although i grant that maybe wouldnt be that ergonomic IMO, therefore any grounbreaking shaped controller is a must, i do want something interesting in the controllers design, well at least nintendo did something new, now iam waiting for sony and microsoft, i want something new from sony, dont get me wrong i like the dualshock but man three consoles had the same controll design, its time they do something new at least in the design department, thanks for remind me that.

Speaking of controlers, how about mouse and keyboard support for gaming? And of course the step is noticing that removes the biggest barrier to cross platform play(on PC anyways).

But yea, M&KB support is a good idea, and so is cross platform play on multiplatform games. Would be nice to play my PS3 friends in a round of BF while I am playing on my xb360.

But really if they could do a cloud streaming service(like a retooled steam and Onlive hybrid) maybe add the M&KB to that, that change everything. I dream of playing Civ V on a console, that would be cool.

Tho in truth, I already play Civ V on my big screen TV with a M&KB, I just boot my pc up to do it.

Well, the PS3 gave us an online store, patching, wireless controller and the ability to turn off your ps3 without getting up. Some of the features I've enjoyed since getting a PS3 last summer.

I guess more download management would be nice and the feature to download and then update PS3 in the background. Simply more app features would also be nice. It would be great to have a service like Netflix on the PS4 in Europe. We do have one, but it's very limited.

And yup, screenshot-grabbing would be nice.

1080p, decent frame rates, ability to record and upload footage of every game you play, the ability to watch your friends play like onlive and the most important - brilliant games that appeal to taste.

Personally, I'd be happy with the level we have right now plus:

1080p always;
60 fps always;
no load screens;
rechargeable controller batteries;

...but if possible, I'd also like:

the ability to install games to the hard disk, and play them from the hard-disk;
the ability to keep my gamer-profile/game saves inside my OWN controller;
the ability to delete games from my trophy list.

Impossible, I know, but a man can dream.

NO blu-tooth. 360 style headsets much clearer stable reception.

LOVE the screenshot in EVERY game feature. Screenshot should be a given in today's day and age.

Upscaling of previous gen games whenever possible. BC SHOULD be a given. Fuck these money grubbing corporations.

60FPS, 1080p NATIVE STANDARD.

Motion control RECEIVER built in to system (HD camera...SONY!) Motion controllers OPTIONAL (AHEM...nintendo....)

How about a game coming with the system? Perhaps even pre-installed on the hard drive. Remember those days....?

To my last point, I still say, if Nintendo made N64 GoldenEye007 HD remake (ala Perfect Dark HD remake on XBLA), kept it exclusive, pre-installed it to come with all new Nintendo systems as a showpiece for not only their new hardware but also there new online functionality, that shit alone would sell millions.

I'd like it to have a fliplid which fits standard or large sized bread, so that the heat it'll no doubt emit can give me a nice cheese and ham toastie after 5-10 minutes whilst I work up an appetite on my gaming session.

I'd also like a new innovative controller, something you wear on your head which detects how stressed you are via heat and moisture - and games automatically adjust difficulty ranging from "playing the game for you" if it detects you're having a heart attack, to "Dark souls on crack" if you are detected as cold, cool and calculated. The controller also has a motion sensor so you can just nod in the direction you want your character to move (and blink to fire, of course).

The added ability to teleport into the game itself without the risk of death while within (oh and the ability to teleport out again)...
I guess you could say that thats what the kinect is doing... kinda.
But I'm more talking like full integration so all your nerves and your character responds to your brain waves in the same way your actual body does... Like virtual reality but have it actually work.
Yeah I'd defiantly like to see that in the next-gen consoles.
