   Hi,

   I have been given the opportunity by my school to partake in a week of work experience, and I would love to work for a gaming company of some sort.

   I have spent a while researching what placements are available, but my results so far haven’t been successful. I was hoping some of you may be able to help me out in my search or point me in the right direction.

   The placement window is from Monday 11th June 2012 to Thursday 14th June 2012 and it needs to be in the UK, preferably around London.

   Your best bet is begging letters.

   Most companies won't actually advertise official placements, but if you write them a good begging letter they might let you shadow someone for a week.

   Find out who have development offices in the UK and get writing. Suck up big time and they might bite.

   @freedom_stains thats not true Vigil and Pixel junk were hiring interns by the boat load just a month ago. I got to do that for a bit.

   @russdude

   Gamasutra has list of placements from various companies whether it is a triple A company down to the companies that make Las Vegas slot machines. Just have to do some research on where the locations are.

   @Phoenixblight, really, for school age kids like 14-16? Usually companies only advertise for students of college or university level.

   Well out here in Austin we have plenty of independent studios, a fantastic igda which have programs for kids which even have like a week camp thing where they would learn to create a game. But that is our community, I can't say its the same for where russdude13 comes from. But you can't know if you don't look.

   @russdude13

   I would suggest getting in contact with your local igda and see if you can do something with them. All the members are affiliated with industry in some way.
