I was not the biggest Warhawk fan out there and didn't play it that much at all, but being part of PS Plus I had to try the beta for Starhawk. So I joined my first match, and honestly it's actually a lot of fun. It's quite different in how they incorporate the whole "stradegy" element but it surprisingly works quite well and I am actually considering getting this game. Just yesterday I would've automatically not considered it one bit but this has changed my mind. What do you guys think?
Starhawk Beta thoughts(6 posts)
I quite liked it. Very polished and controls were a lot tighter than Warhawk. Just played a couple of games of TDM but the build mechanic produces a nice flow to the frontline and a dynamic sub-game of move and counter.
Very surprised to find they had time to include a screen on which features were available in the demo but not what the feckin' controls were though. Anyone find a way to switch shoulder view between right and left?
I never really played warhawk but starhawk is amazing. This is the smoothest beta I have been in to date and the feel of the game is amazing. Love dropping walls for protection and when I played capture the flag had a ball sneaking in stealing the flag and running like a F*cking mad man.lol
Hopefully they have alternative controls in the future because I keep throwing grenades when I want to run. but other then that I think this will be another great game people will overlook due to Sony's poor advertisements
I don't believe you cant switch shoulders yet, but I did hear a lot of chatter in the games I played about people wanting that, so i'm sure it'll be implemented. And yea switching controls would help, I do the exact same thing (throw grenade instead of sprinting)
I enjoyed it. Gasp, OG is a Plus member!? Yep, true indeed.
I thought the game has a lot going for it. But what bothers me at this point is in worrying if it is going to just do what everyone else was doing five years ago or if it is going to bring something truely new to OMP shooters.
Yea I know droping a wall or tower is neat. But CTF? TDM? Those modes are stale. I would like to see something different and more creative. Heck I would be happy if they could mimic something like SW Battlefront II. For a grander flavor rather then just quick "rounds" of same ole same ole.
At this point thats about all the critisim I can levy. What they have shown is nice, and what they are offering is nice. I just want more, time will tell what they add in there.
