...is the biggest pile of FAIL in the hitory of gaming.
That is all.
...is the biggest pile of FAIL in the hitory of gaming.
That is all.
Suuureee it is *rolls eyes* I think for it to be the biggest "fail" that would mean it would have to piss off EVERY psn user and not just a minority of users who "think" they know how a service is to be provided.
Nice rant though
Nah, that title goes to Microsofts first party lineup.
;)
Its not that bad Giga.
What do you not like?
I know it can be a bit cumbersome but you get used to it after a bit.
Stupid thing refuses to take CC details from people for no apparent reason. It's like they just don't want money.
Why do I have to go out of my way to buy a PSN card? XBL has no such problems.
It's missing about 80% of the basic features that XBL has.
The PSN store is useless, and the cumbersome, chuggy, XMB, that you can only close at certain times, doesn't help.
It takes anywhere from twice, to about four or five times the amount of time that it takes my 360 to download the exact same thing on XBL.
Should I go on...?
Hi, What content would you be purchasing on PSN? Is it a full-game or some dlc? What are the title names(s)?
Rant is a rant but my issues with PSN is exactly the same like with G1GA, especially about CC details.
Now i'm stuck by buying stupid shitty cards from my local shop or from Game.co.uk/Amazon.co.uk
PSN is really just a big pile of Fail. It does everything wrong what XBL or STEAM does right and it does nothing better, than these two.
the only thing that it does probably better than Microsoft is that it is completely FREE. (Except for PSN+)
@ranksshabba:
I just want to add money to my PSN wallet at this stage, but it won't even let me do that.
hmmm it fails for everyone at a fail for you? Great debate there guys *rolls eyes* Check it instead of ranting on VG247 why don't you rant to SONY directly? Oh no that isn't the right solution because the average consumer can handle your problem better then the community of VG247?
Have to admit I never had cc problems with it.
I even got a map pack for KZ3 after the hack.
Strange one that.
Thats unfortunate GIGA, you don't actually want to buy anything from PSN, but on a day when there is a problem, you happen to want to add some money to it, not to buy anything but just to add money to it.
That is just been born unlucky :(
You want PSN to have your cc details? Really?
Still at least its not Origin! Amiright?!
@ranksshabba:
You've misunderstood what I said. I didn't say that there wasn't anything that I wanted to buy. I actually want to get the CoD Elite Premium membership. It's getting closer to the end of the month, where certain incentives are due to disappear, so I want to get it asap.
The thing costs £35, and I've tried adding money to my PSN wallet straight from the Elite Premium page, but that didn't work, so I went to the PSN website and tried to simply add money, without it being in relation to any content, which is what I described above.
___________________________
What makes it worse is that I'm not the only one having this problem. There's a 33 page thread about this on the official PlayStation forum that goes all the way back to 2009!
What sort of network are you pushing that's had ridiculous problems like this, which are affecting so many people, that none of the other networks seem to have?
I can almost guarantee you that I can get this done in a few seconds on XBL.
According to some people, they've had this problem for years!
Buying MW3 for PS3 is beginning to look like a huge mistake.
G1GA just buy CoD MW3 for xb360, and don't look back.
You will be happier. All your gonna do here is smack the hornets nest. It is what it is.
Soo your saying all other options are completely unacceptable? Yout stating that you can't put money on there what so ever? What? You can? It just seems like a inconvience for you? SAYYY WHHAATTT? dude seriously. Try a alternate cc, psn, prepaid debit card OR try verifying your billing information is accurate to your CC info. There's a million different way to figure this situation out. And it's awfully familier to my recent netflix issue I was having where netflix wouldn't except my cc info. know what I did to fix it? First I called Netflix which turned around to not be able to figure it out when that failed I just made a new account. Guess what? That worked so maybe you should try that add a new account add the funds download the add on then install it under your other profile.
Really easy ways of going about it then ranting about how you can't spend your money. IJS
Hahahaha!
Oh, this is funny.
What the hell possessed you to buy in on PS3 anyway, when you already knew Xbox Live had the superior service in that regard?
Mind you, you *could* just pick up a PSN card of equal value...
I love how you always complain about everything that doesn't conform to your exact expectations and desires down to the exact details all the time.
I know a few 10 year olds who already grew out of that habit...
@OG:
If I do, I'll have to make a new account (with a new Gold membership) anyway. My G1GAHURTZ gamertag seems to be somehow unbreakably linked with the UK, so whenever I play CoD from here in Saudi, I always get put in matches against other Western European players. Needless to say, 95% of my games are a lag fest, and the other 5%, I might be the host, but everyone else usually quits.
Or at least, this was the case with Black Ops.
As far as I'm aware, the Middle East is basically PS3 territory, so it all pointed towards the best chance of getting good connections was going for the PS3 version. Either that or PC, and I can't really be bothered gaming on PC these days.
At the moment, I only have mobile broadband, which slows down drastically at peak times, but I've had games where I can tell that I've got a fairly decent ping.
So basically, even though I will probably get the 360 version for the achievement points and maybe some co-op, if I want to play competitively like I enjoy doing, I'm pretty much stuck with split screen or the PS3 version.
By the way, in Europe, I think all the more competitive players are on 360s, but here it's the other way around. I'm used to seeing way more lower skill level players on PS3 back in the UK, but here in the Midlle East, the skill level that I've seen so far on PS3 is much higher.
@lexph3re:
I don't have another CC that I can use. I'm using my UK visa debit card, which works perfectly well just about everywhere else. I also live in Saudi Arabia, and as far as I'm aware, PSN cards aren't available here.
There is no "easy" way to do something that SHOULD work in the first place.
Let's get this straight. It's Sony's payment system is at fault here, not me.
All I can do now is buy a PSN card code online, where they email the card to you and use that. I actually tried to do this yesterday, but the website that I used only took payments through PayPal. I paid through PayPal as a guest and awaited my code, but after a few minutes, I got a message back from PayPal saying that the site had refunded my money, with a note saying: "Hi,Due to the high fraud volume rate we can only accept paypal verified accouts only.Thanks."
It's a long story, but basically I only put enough money in that account to pay for what I need to, each month, and I'm not going to put another £35 in there whilst still waiting for PayPal to actually put the money back in, which can apparently take anywhere from 3 to 30 days.
So now I'm left waiting for my money to be refunded by one company, so that I can buy a product from another company, to use on another online network that should have just taken my details in the first place!
It really is pathetic.
Like I said before, this takes seconds on XBL, so I think I'm more than entitled to my single line "rant".
So let me make sure I've understood this correctly...
You're trying to put funds into a UK PSN account from a mobile broadband account in Saudi Arabia using a UK debit card?
I can understand why you're pissed off, but they're hardly an average set of circumstances are they? I've had issues using my debit card abroad in the past, and that's before you get into the whole internet fraud prevention angle that both the banks and Sony take these days. Sorry to hear your frustration but it's a pretty complex set of circumstances for anyone to deal with.
I agree that the circumstances aren't standard by any means, but like I said, I've used the same card, on the same internet connection, on XBL and it works just fine.
Also, I've seen many posts on forums from (UK) users whose situation seems fairly standard, but they have the same problem.
If I thought it was just down to my particular circumstances, I'd just accept the situation and say nothing, but the fact that other people have been having the same problem since 2009 makes me think that this is a long term issue that Sony haven't addressed.
To be fair, I haven't tried topping up my PSN account for a few months so mine could be screwed for all I know.
Is there anyway one of us could help? I live in the UK and would be glad to help out if there's anything I can do.
Thanks for the offer, Detale, I really appreciate it.
At the moment, I'm just waiting fot PayPal to give me my refund, then I'll probably try buying a PSN card via email again, but this time from a proper PayPal account. If that doesn't work, I'll probably just ask someone back in the UK to buy a card from GAME and send me the code or something...
Thanks again.
Maybe a call to MS to see if they can resit your profile to your new region? Not sure, but could be worth a look. Because while COD is certianly your biggest game, I am sure you play other games too.
I also understand that better players play in UK on 360. But lets face it your ina small gaming region anyways. If you were in a NA sized region, you could find elite players on either system I would imagine. Being in the ME, the number of elite players is surly lower on either system? If nothing else in sheer volume alone.
Just thinking your in a no win situation to begin with. The ME is not really a gaming hot bed for either MS or Sony to worry about. I would have guessed that PS3 would fair better there due to MS selling a premium product(LIVE), and PSN being free. But then you get what you pay for(as you have said, your disapointed by lack of features found on PSN). You really can't win. I don't envy you at all.
I would call MS first and foremost.
Good luck.
See if you can buy a network card from shopto.net, you can buy them instant access, the code appears in your shopto account, it's also 2 quid and change cheaper than buying from Sony at the pound for pound rate.
Whatever theregion of your Gamertag, Xbox Live matches you up with people of the closest region to your physical IP address.
The game lags because it's poorly designed.
If they ditched this host and peer to peer bullshit and used proper dedicated servers (like Battlefield does) this problem would almost never occur. Except for those few days at the start, BF3 has been almost completely lag free.
Nice one!
Thanks for the tip freedoms_stain.
You want to sign up to COD Elite? Really?
Well at least it isn't Battlelog! Amiright?!
P.s. All the good UK CoD players are on the 360...? Who says this? Wait 360 owners say this? Oh its gospel then ;)
I agree with Michael... If you really think PSN is missing about 80% of the basic features that XBL has (can't think of anything else than party chat, but whatever), why the hell did you buy the game for ps3? :)
@Orbitmonkey: I was just thinking the same thing xD
Don't take it personally, OM, I said "more competitive". If you're good, you can play on any console (like me!), but if you're more competitive, you're on the one with more players, the better dev support, the map packs released first and the better party/communication system.
There are only 1 or maybe 2, maximum, pro CoD players that I can think of who play on PS3.
@Ge0force:
I explained above (17th comment) why I decided to buy it for PS3. I have to say, as far as getting a better connection in MP, it's been the right choice.
Don't use Mobile broadband for online gaming, especially if you are going to play with Europeans, it sucks big time here in Saudi, that's why your games lag. And it's expensive too.
Yeah, I might try and get STC's 20mb land line internet, but it's just getting around to doing it...
