   As their are no tips WHAT SO FUCKING EVER in the booklet, I've been looking on the net.

   1) Spotting - If you press select when aiming at someone, he's marked for the whole team on the map. So if you don't slot them, hopefully your team will.

   2) - Spawning. Don't just hammer X to get back into the game. Take a look at the map for. the cicles where your team is. Try to get nearer the action, saves time. Though don't get too close, or you'll be looking at that map again real soon.

   3) - Support actions. If your Assault or Support class, press that left directional button near any of your squad. You'll drop meds or ammo respectively. They only have to be near it to benefit & you get mucho points.

   4) - Beware the bushes! Don't go charging past the shrubbery, theirs a 90% chance some douche has made it their home.

   5) - Click the the R3 stick to put the vehicle your driving into 3rd person. Helpful when maneuvering tight spots, but shit for aiming. Click back into 1st person to shoot bad guys.

   6) - Stick to your guns. Pick a class, get comfy, then stay with it till you bling up your gun a little. Then move on. If you start getting spanked, switch back to your comfy class.

   7) - Squad Chat. In the voice options, switch it to squad or team. If on squad you'll only hear your squad mates, If on Team... well you get the Idea. Though apparently the ps3 has a glitchy system at the mo.

   8) - Try to stay with a squad, more guns on enemy means you live longer. If your mates get killed, hang back so they can respawn on you. BF3 is more about staying alive, rather than gunning for glory.

   9) - Take notice of your surroundings. Theirs gun emplacements and rocket launcher tubes.dotted about. Use them.

   10) - You cannot fly. I know you should learn by doing, but heli's are tricky. Stay in the ground vehicles and let others jump in with you. Theirs a co-op mission with a heli for you to practice with.

   Now this Is a very basic set of tips, but I've only played a hour or two. If any veterans have a few nuggets they want to share, please do :)

   Great tips, thanks for sharing.

   On my first round I was getting used to the controls and the game itself, in doing so I was stabbed, raped and pillaged. It was like stealing acorns from a fucking blind pig.

   Although I have somewhat improved and slowing earning the old XP..

   I had a game last night & these two fucking ninja bastards kept jumping out of some bushes & knifing me!! They were fucking Invisible I swear!!

   Helicopters are a lot easier to fly compared to the previous games, but they really dont score many kills and jets are even worst. Unlike in BC2 (cant remember for BF2) attack helicopters dont have enemy tanks highlighted, in fact nothing is so it feels like a pixel hunt. I' guessing that the upgrades might help with that, especially for jets because you might actually unlock missiles and bombs. But unless you REALLY want to level them up, dont bother flying, you'll just spend the match going in circles and end up with 0 score, or shot down. You have to unlock flares btw. :/

   All good nuggets of advice. I've got hundreds of hours of BF under my belt collectively over various titles so I suppose I count as a vet.

   1) play the objective, players who play the objective score more and win more, pay attention to when and where you lose flags and act to win them back. You get a better game when everyone plays to win instead of just for kills.

   2) play your class. Got a repair tool? See that tank getting rocket raped? Get in there and repair. If you're support or assault your supply drops aren't just for you, fling them out like confetti at a wedding, it could mean the difference between pushing forward or getting pushed back.

   3) take care of your vehicles. Noobs treat vehicles like killstreaks, a short term single use item that's "gone when it's gone" - DO NOT treat your vehicles like this, a good tanker or pilot should aim to keep their vehicle the entire round if possible, vehicles are invaluable resources if treated properly, wasting them should be viewed as a cardinal crime. Never use attack vehicles purely for transport -you're robbing the team of effectiveness, never abandon a vehicle in a salvageable state enemies WILL steal them and this may swing the battle in their favour.

   4) Don't camp. Weight of numbers often means a lot in Battlefield, if you're sat really far back "sniping" then you're robbing your team of weight where it matters. A lot of people assume they're supposed to play recon by bush humping, wrong, a good recon moves after every kill and stays around the periphery of the battle. If you're too far away to get within a flag capture radius or quickly rush in to arm or diffuse a crate you're probably too far away to be of use. A guy on the ground with a 1.0 k/d is worth 3 guys in the bush with 3.0 k/d's.

   5) Be flexible. Guys who adamantly stick to one class no matter what hurt the team, over population of any class leaves you deficient in other respects. If you notice Tyre tram has half a dozen assault then it's probably a good idea for you to choose something else.

   6) kit switch. You can get the use of guns and attachments you haven't earned by right by picking them up off corpses. Unlike BC2 optics seem to be really useful and almost necessary at distance, especially since a lot of long range targets will be prone now thus harder to get iron sighs over when you take bullet drop into account -so grabbing someone else's scoped rifle might see you faring better until you've earned your own.

   I'm sure I'll think of more.

   Yeah i'm guilty of using a tank till its destroyed... Better watch that ;)

   Another tip. Flashlights, these are gonna major ballache for some. True using them can tell the enemy where you are, but If their looking at you their also blinded. This works at range too & is fucking annoying when your on the recieving end -_-

   Each and every time I take up a sniping position I am accused of being a camper. It seems you can't win.

   I know BF3 is primarily a team based game but after my years of playing Counter strike and many other first-person shooters, I have come to the decision that I will camp where ever and for how long I want to. There are no rules in war! Baaaaaah!!!!!!!

   @Ireland, Yes ours came with a very informative manual that helpfully pointed out where all the buttons were on my controller.... Not what their ingame function was, just their location on the actual pad :)

    Oh yeah, one more thing, don't camp vehicle spawns, so many matches are lost simply because one team has a numbers disadvantage due to the vehicle ho's who won't take to the field without a tank/chopper/jet and who will sit and wait even if the vehicle in question is actually in use. By all means if there's a vehicle available feel free to go for it or spawn near it, but for fuck sake please don't spend half a round waiting on them to appear.

    @Paul, your job is to win the match, your effectiveness in this is severely reduced if you're bush humping imo.

    I agree with freedom about sniping. When playing with an organized squad, having (just) one recon guy can be invaluable. So long as he doesn't sit 300m away. Effective recon guys stick with the squad more or less (hang back a little), and play overwatch (spot as many guys as possibl)e this isn't point heaven but team playing.. Drop your mobile spawn point on the periphery of any area where there's action.

    In Battlefield 3, the Mobile Spawn Point makes Recon even more valuable than ever, and I get the impression that it was put it solely for the purpose of keeping Recon players further up in the battlefield during matches.

    That said, if a guy *can* stay well back during a match and still snipe the hell out of half the enemies coming up towards the objective... fair dues to him.

    Fuuuuuuu, I just wrote a massive post about snipers in modern Battlefield games, phone lost connection after I sent it and I lost it :-(

    The jist was that snipers that camp in the same spots for entire rounds are really ineffective. Because of the way the kill cam system works in BC2 and now BF3 once a sniper kills someone he knows where they are, he spots them, people get to know where the sniper is, people avoid remaining stationary in the snipers field of view, he gets counter sniped our someone flanks round and separates his tags from his neck.

    Most dedicated snipers are also not actually very good at it, most if them have extremely low kpm, negative k/d and negative w/l. Most snipers have difficulty with stationary targets, moving ones are completely beyond them.

    You see it's not enemy snipers that worry me, they're easily dealt with, it's the useless fuckers wearing the blue triangles that bother me, and there's fuck-all you can do about them, taking up space in the team and doing nothing worth doing.

    If the figures were available I'm fairly certain they'd show that the team with the least snipers on it wins the vast majority of the time.

    Yeah, the way sniper rifles work in this games means that less people are going to use them, they actually take some effort because you have to account for the bullet traversal and drop unlike in other games were they're pretty much magic sticks that kill anything they're pointed at because they always fire perfectly straight for infinite distance.

    ...That said, i'm not sure if they've changed it since the beta, and i havent tried yet, but you could strip a sniper rifle of its scope, or use a short/medium range scope and you end up with a 2 hit kill weapon, more effective at a close range than a shotgun.

    At least that was possible in the beta, no idea if its been changed.

    Ok the easiest tip for a newbie is, is this...

    Join a server with a low bodycount. I mean a 16/24 player total for example.

    Preferably CQ. Capture points and have fun :)

    Has anyone actually seen a death caused by the attack helicopter's rockets yet? I swear they're completely worthless, a tank can take a full volley and still be perfectly fine. Right now the little bird dominates it, first off you can actually slow it down enough to hover over points and capture them giving you an instant 300 points (do this twice and you'll get the flares), then its dual mini guns are way more effective then rockets, they can damage vehicles (even tanks) and shred units. Finally whilst the little bird isnt as manoeuvrable as, say, a black hawk (which has no pilot weapons, at least not by default), its still more controllable than the attack helicopters which feel like boxes going a long zip lines.

    Also worth pointing out that the black hawk (and other slower helicopters) count as the same unlocks as the little bird, seeing as they're easier to control, you can grab one and simply hover over capture points taking them and getting all of the unlocks (heat seeking missiles are awesome for instance), then you have way better stuff for when you play as a little bird.

    I wont even go into jets, they're even worst.

    Nah, seriously. Some good tips flying around here. I don't really have many because I'm not much of an expert on anything BF. I would just like to say the Engineer unlocked gun, the A-91, is superb.

    @Gek, I haven't had a go in any BF3 air vehicles yet thanks to the shitty timing of the release for me, but it should take more than one volley of rockets to take out an MBT, in BC2 it took 2 perfect volleys on the back of a tank to take it down, if some rockets missed completely or hit the heavier armour on the front then you were looking at 3 volleys minimum.

    It's easier to get kills with choppers if you finish off a weakened vehicle.

    Hey freedoms_stain in Seinna Crossing CQ on BF3 i rolled a 31/3 k/d with my SKS. Although i didn't hide in a bush i stayed in the same building the whole match. I could overview point A, C, and D. I didn't let anyone live on my watch. Recon is useful when you know how to play it. I actually ran out of sniper ammo from all the kills i had, it was pretty funny and i'm sure the other team was pissed at me. They sent a tank after me once it didn't work too well for them.

    I don't think if you sit back and snipe ur camping i hate this i mean one time i stayed in one place, and got multiple kills i got called a camper. The part i don't understand was i was 15 feet away from the flag now i call it protecting a flag I don't know about you but how is this camping. I mean if i stayed say 300 ft back and just stayed there waiting sure tack me but really? Does anyone back me up on this?

    I will say that once someone got to a vehicle just wait for other people to get in also, especially in those buggys or Jeeps, is annoying that only one person gets on the objective on time, while three people of your team are running torwards the objective, you have more fire power and everybody gets some points.

    And one last thing, DICE if you are reading this, please fix the USAS-12 frag grenades, thats my only main gripe with the game, those things do more damage than a tank shot, rocket, mortar, etc, combine, unbelievable

    Place C-4 on the front of a jeep, roll around to find a tank, speed the jeep into the tank, jump out and hit the C-4. Easy kill, just don't drive down the front end of the tank.

    But the best tip i can give players that have a few hours in but are still lower end scorboard is play Hardcore, and play Conquest.

    Playing rush means that your basicly coming down a tunnel to arm the crates. And playing normal mode means that everyone, everywhere on the map is going to know where your located. Those idiots that think spamming the back/select button to "spot" enimies are morons. And when you play a normal mode game your too often a orange blip on someones mini map, even if they themself didn't see you coming.

    Hardcore removes that.

    That means you get to use tactics again. You can hide. You can sneak. You can even get away from someone that did see, but failed to kill you.

    Rush almost always produces less points per average then conquest. Yea I know players can score a lot of points in Rush. But the newer ones to the game aren't scoring those points. So as where a new player might bag 500 - 1000 points in rush they will likly bag 2 or 3 times that in conquest.

    Most of the times in rush its the same one or two players that keep arming/disarming creates. They bag the most points. In Conquest everyone near the flag gets points. So if you move with your sqd/team your going to get points. All of you. Thats around 300 - 450 points per flag capture. 3 of those match and your toping what you did in rush. And you havn't even killed anyone or healed anyone yet.

    Also hardcore mode means that enimy tankers can't see your landmines all over the map = they actual run into them regularly. One fully loaded tank is huge points. Even one single driver tank is good points, esp if your mines were near a flag. Mine are fix it and forget it points, but worthless if every player on the other team can see and spot them on their mini maps.

    Hardcore mode isn't for some sel thought of elite player. I play it and I am not gifted. Just an averag eplayer that got sick of camping snipers killing me because they can see me coming, or spotting me for their whole team to see me coming.

    I have over 300hours playing BF3, xb360.

    Other then cnqst and hardcore, not much to add, some great advice already in this thread.
