Your grandma called, she wants her old news back. :P
No but seriously, old news is old.
What? I only just read this in the metro?! Curse these late shifts!!
Not going to lie, some of that did make me laugh. It sounded like something out of a comedy. I could imagine this guys worst nightmare to go like this:
He sees himself as the raging 46 year old he is, strangling some kid Homer Simpson-style screaming "YOU KILLED ME! YOU KILLED ME!" and the kid just laughing saying "L-O-L BRO! HAHA! U MAD, BRO? HAHA!"
Currently I'm pretty hooked on World of Tanks, and I'm playing with Americans who love nothing more than to talk, smack or otherwise, all the time. Personally I think it's one of the more fun aspects of a game. It makes it feel a lot more immersed, pretty much like a real game of sports.
Then again you could probably say that US culture is a lot less uptight than it is back in Europe, so maybe that's why the vast majority of people here can take it with a smile and admire a well placed insult.
This one time, one guy started talking shit about a high end tank, which takes quite a while to earn, and I started talking shit about his paper armor tank destroyer, while I was stuck in a far smaller scout tank, having no chance of killing anything that round. So I just drove around telling him how shit his choice of vehicle was, and he was talking about how badly he was gonna destroy my tank. So my team starts to lose and I make sure I'm taken out by one of the bigger tanks, just so I can tell the guy "Well, at least I got killed by a REAL tank" - To which we both made the internet laughter abbreviation.
People just generally need to lose the stick up their ass.

I've never been trash talked over the internet. Then again I don't multiplayer much. Mostly because I don't find it enjoyable. I did try Uncharted 3 beta, but most of the time I muted everybody because it's annoying.
If you play in Europe it'll rarely happen. I don't play on consoles though, but I can't remember the last time I heard anyone talk on mic on a European server outside of WoW.
Americans are an entirely different story. They can't be around anyone for 5 seconds without talking.
