Ok well, I have given this a go last night. First things first the servers can bounce you around a bit, we were having a fair amount of disconects. But thats normal and typical of a game like this that has just launched.
I can, however, tell you that I have yet to see any of the bugs that plagued the beta. Again, as expected.
To make a long story short, this is a good game. If your on the fence, but like past BF games, go ahead take the plunge. And better to get it now when it is still the limited ed.(tho how limited something can be when it has millions of copies is a wonder). The preorders/first runs/limited editions have extra content(the karkand(sp?) maps and a few extra goodies. I also unlocked a few things because the game detected(or EAs servers detected) I had played past BF games on xb360.
Graphics are very nice(better then beta) - make sure you install the game to your HDD. A friend of mine didn't at first the load times were slow, and the graphics choppy, he said. He later installed the game. I installed it straight away, so I can't vouch for the difference.
I hated Metro in beta, and still do. It is the worst BF map I have ever played. It amounts to a sniper infested tunnel. Nothing like getting sniped before you even get inside the tunnel. I am not the only one, I saw people quit when the map came up in the play list. And saw at least three players(on attacking), just afk.
Fortunatly the other maps are all fantastic BF experiences. Loaded with vehicels, well designed, and out and out fun to play.
As to why my seemingly 180 on the game. Pretty simple, money. I don't have a lot of it. A friend of mine has even less. He sold off most of their games in order to be able to buy BF3 and play it. He was going to buy it for me, after I told him I was going to pass at launch and maybe get it later. In the end I would rather spend my money then he spend his.
So I kept my preorder.
I only buy maybe four new full priced games a year. After playing the beta I felt there was other games that would have been better choices for me. But things being as they were, i got BF3. Its a solid and good game. Very enjoyable. I still don't if I would get more milage out of it then I would other games but whats done is done. I have it, i am going to play it.
I have to add that I haven't even taken the SP disc out of the box yet. And if the campaign wasn't co-op online, I prolly wouldn't even touch it at all. But it is so I will at some point.
