Sales yes. Number game in terms of quality? MW2 wouldn't recieve any votes from me. But sales and quality isn't always the happy couple. people like what they like, and they love MW2. Why? I have no freaken clue.
In my top teir of possible number ones, in no real order, are Fat Princess, Trine, Tourchlight, Super Mario Browii, Borderlands, Uncharted2, Brutal Legand, and too many more to list really. It wasn't a bad year in games, looking back. But if something like CoD MW2 can be hyped, pimped and sold the way it has, we all lose just alittle bit of gamer dignity. I reckon MW2 will be the most played game of 2010.
I've already got someone on my friends list with over 170 hours of online play, and others are catching him up fast (including me!).
No idea how I'd get the stats to prove it though...

Yeah, I know. '11.5m active subscriptions'. I still don't think that they'll end up putting in as many hours as the regular MW2 players.
Plus, whereas the PC market will probably get flooded with a whole bunch of pretender MMORPGs that will keep people away from WoW for a while, the only thing that looks like being able to take any regular players from MW2 is looking like Halo Reach.

Pure numbers are interesting, and like you said really no way to find out. But what intregues me even more are the demo graphics behond those numbers. I have three people pn my friends list that play MW2 daily. All of them kids. Now I don't have a huge friends list, and I am not implying that only kids play CoD. And I know a LOT of the wow regulars out there are also kids. But thats what strikes me as the most interesting bit.
Its a Mrated game, and like many of its type, is flooded with underage players. Maybe its just the parent in me, but that part bothers me greatly.Posted 3 years ago # -
Yeah, I agree that kids shouldn't be playing MW2 for 2 reasons.
1. Because, as you said, it's an M-rated/18 certificate game that they're too young to play.
2. Based on the games that I've played since CoD4, I'd guess that 80-90% of the hackers/glitchers/boosters are under 18.
My friends list is full of people of all ages though, so and loads of them regularly play MW2, so I'm not sure that I would agree about most of the players being kids...

Yea, I don't know either. If most, half, 1/3rd or even 10% are. I have no idea. Thats the part I would enjoy finding out about.
Underage online players have been a prob all along. It got worse once they got their pubecent hands on headsets lol. Guess we will have to wait till the systems come with eye retinal scans to veryify your name,age, etc.Posted 3 years ago #
