So I am in Chapter 2 of Gears 3, and it really REALLY feels like the new "Lament" are an uninspired copycat of "The Flood." IMO.
At the very least they could have really went in a different direction of the Lament so it wouldn't come off as a Halo Flood copy...

You're only realising this now? I saw it coming in Gears 2. Seemed rather obvious they were going for the zombie-like third faction.
Yeah they are similar I guess, though I absolutely adore GoW3 where as I dislike the halo franchise, so I'll just look the other direction.
Also it's lambent rather than lament... I think.
Doesn't matter. Gears kills Halo in every aspect anyway.

I actually really enjoyed "Halo:Reach" but yes you are right "Gears of War 3" does beat it. The multiplayer is really challenging, there's alot of really amazing players out there, and you have to stay focused if you want to keep your k/d ratio and w/l ratio up. I really struggled at first because it's such a tactic focused multiplayer, but I really am loving it now I've got better.
I have to agree with the analogy being already transparent enough in Gears2. Always thought it's spelled 'lambient' though =p
Halo has better universe, plot, narrative, multiplayer, more diversity, including community playlists, Forge World, theater, and stats tracking system. Gears reminds me of Grifball.
im on act 4 now and so far the story beats all the halos story, the plot is amazing and the characters and there backstory is amazing to. the more i play the more i want to find out if carmine lives or dies and theres 1 moment in the game which is really emotional so far a solid game
Great game, indeed. Who cares, if it borrows inspirational ideas from other games?! So far the best of the series and for me the best Xbox exclusive so far.
