Am I the only one suffering extreme lag on the main site while viewing this site under Chrome?
It wa fine before, but it seems that when I visit the site lately, it hangs for up to ten seconds before I can even scroll the screen or click on something. It seems like they're a tonne of stuff in the background slowing everything down.
It's even slow in Firefox, but it doesn't lag half as badly.
Anyone else having this problem?
I always thought it was serverside, it happens quite rarely for me.
Usually whenever there's a convention on or something, the site really groans under the pressure.
Using Chrome right now, running finely, Firefox has been giving me the shits lately.
Try turning off Flash.
I use Chrome and its running fine. Though i'm also using Ad Block Plus, so maybe an ad is slowing everything down for you?
Flash off doesn't make a difference, and Ad Block Plus actually makes it works.
Haven't noticed any performance problems, I have a flash switcher on if it makes any odds.
VG247 can be a memory hog, I noted before in the forum that if you leave a vg247 tab active (in chrome) it'll eat up over a gig of memory on its own over the course of less than a day (hence I close the site now and pop it back open if something interesting comes up in my feeds)
I have had slowdowns using AdBlock as well. It's completely random for me, although you can count on it happening around major news days.
I've never really had any noticeable problem, or at least that I can remember.
I've stopped using Chrome recently. It keeps crashing everytime I try to download an image or music file, so I just gave up on it.
Vg247's always been fine for me on Chrome and I'm using a seven yr old pc running xp :)
Same here for the past few weeks, it's really annoying. I already stopped writing comments because it's killing chrome and I can't even open page 2 :/
As it doesn't appear to be accross all versions of chrome then clearly we need more details, what OS are you on etc ?

freedom_stain's post seems to be the closest to the problem I'm having. I tend to keep the site open in a separate tab, so it's probably crippling the browser with its memory usage.
Works flawlessly on FireFox though, which I've recently changed back over to as my main browser anyway.
Using Chrome 13.0.782.218 on a five year old MacBook with Mac OSX Lion. Works fine on VG247, but I have experienced pretty severe lag on other sites, like Screened.com.

Everything runs smooth until I open a tab with vg247.com I don't want to change the browser, because chrome is awesome, but I also don't want to search for another gaming site :(
Trying out with my brothers laptop. Win 7 and Firefox 6.0.1 Almost the same bad experience. Seems like someone doesn't want us to visit this site anymore Michael :/
