I'm pretty sure ASUS has everybody beat with the DirectCU system. For the 770 I think it was ASUS first and Gigabyte close second in every test I saw. I was looking at a lot of tests based on the fact that I wanted my rig to be as quiet as possible, and I can barely hear my PC at any time, even running everything at full blast, so I can definitely back the reputation of those ASUS fans.
Finished my Rig (Finally!!!) Master Race here we come!(57 posts)
Thanks dude! It's taken a long time, but I think the timing has been perfect for me.
Wasn't 100% happy with next gen specs (although will happily play exclusives on them down the line) and the PC was getting more and more game releases in the last few years.
Things like Dark Souls / Castlevania etc... Not to mentions all the Indie and PC exclusives. The PS4 / Xbone just seem more and more like PC's anyway, just with less ability to customise / adapt.
Really can't wait to try it out when it's all finished!
Will def look into getting a good monitor in the future.
"Will def look into getting a good monitor in the future."
you have fantastic card that will enable you to have monitors with G-sync feature.
so you can look forward next year or maybe in 2-3 years for decent TV/monitor upgrade with G-sync feature. Your PC is basically ready for the future.
and also, because you have such a good videocard. You need to record EXCLUSIVELY for Vg247 using ShadowPlay http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Lyy3ZijLJ0s
We need to see how you SUCK at gaming XDDDD trolololo.
i am really flirting with the alienware x51 now :) i know it's overpriced for what it is but i don't really care. it's convenient and i don't have the time and nerves and knowledge to look into building a pc right now.
i was almost ordering it yesterday...what's holding me back are the steamboxes. overall i am more than ready to buy into new hardware.
I'd say even if you're going for convenience, you'd be better off shopping around polygem. Whereever you're from, I'm sure there's a company that gives you the same components for less, even with assembly and everything.
It's. Just. Not. Worth it.
^ Agree. In my country all my shops can build my PC for free. I just need to choose what parts I want to buy. That's it.
I'm sure you can do it everywhere unless you live in Africa somewhere in the Jungles where people still use Windows 98...
there are lots of stores here that offer this. a friend of mine really knows a lot about pc tech. maybe i should grab 1000€ meet my friend at the shop and then just go for it.
man i'm undecided :)
EDIT : would totally love this one :)
wait for Steambox. You always have a choice and no one is saying to you that you should do it right now.
lol, Im gonna suck at FPS's for a good while, haven't used a mouse & Keyboard for an age! I will def wait and get a monitor that has the GSYNC built in, sounds awesome!
Just for reference, I didn't pay that much over what you mentioned for my rig. Being able to use the TV carves about 100 / 150 Euros off the price for having to buy a monitor.
The price of SSD Hard Drives has dropped as has memory. 16Gbram was about £80!!!
You could easily get a smaller and cheaper case too I imagine. Anyway, food for thought! :)
My main objectives for the rig were:
1080p & 60fps on high / ultra (or as close to that on a single GPU)
As quiet and cool running as possible
Roughly the same price as an Xbone & PS4 combined (I was going to try and buy both on launch)
This build should hopefully cover most of those angles!
Running STEAM big window mode through the TV and with a 360 / PS4 pad should make a lovely gaming system!
i played big picture mode at a friends place recently. he has his pc man cave right next to the living room, drilled a hole through the wall to connect his pc to his 46" samsung.
dark souls looked impressive. he had a mod running on it and it looked just awesome. we played some other stuff as well with 360 pads. loved it. the big picture ui is great. everything works fine. loved that you could flawlessy search for walkthroughs online by pressing a single button, the steam store is great. it's just cool stuff. was very very impressed with it.
Thanks for the impressions. It's good becuase you are in the same place as me (haven't gamed on PC's for a good while!)
Sounds like it's a smooth experience and has come on along way since I last dipped my feet!
I've also been browsing the sales. For about £60 you can pick up a lot of great titles. PC gaming really is cheap once you get the initial (expensive) set up.
it feels like a great ui on a console, it's smooth and intuitive. really solid...it will only improve from there.
That PC you linked is a beast, but would you go AMD over Nvidia? Not saying AMD cards aren't good (you get lots of bang for your buck), but Nvidia looks to have the better set up at the moment. Performance / low heat / low sound and quality support.
Also has lots of nice additions like Erth has mentioned GSync etc...
Just checked on Amazon.de, you can get a:
GTX 780 Superclocked GPU (same model as mine)
MSI Z77 motherboard
XFX 650W PSU
For about 1000 euros. Just need a case and hard drive / DVDRW
It's based off this guys build, although I doubled the RAM:
Pretty good for a giant killer of a machine! :)
Thx mg. Will check later. Im at ikea. KILLS me...but bought a huge and comfy chair for gaming :)
Don't leave without buying Daim cake :
And a crate of Koppaberg cider, if you've missed that you've only done half the ikea experience! :)
Good news on the chair though, which one did you go for?!
Guys, stupid question.
But someone have key for Blizzard's Heartstone beta? If you don't need one please can you send it via email? =/
I hope Pat/Dave or some VG247 modder see this message.
this one but in blue. didn't plan to buy it but that's how ikea works i guess. i know that cake. it's good stuff but we were in a rush because they were closing.
chair is nice. works great with my setup. might post a new pic in gigas 'setup' thread if i will find the time.
regarding pc, yes my friend also recommended nvidia. i decided to wait for steambox news now (thx erth, i believe that really is the most clever thing to do atm). it might be worth the wait. wont buy anything next gen for now...i love the case of the pc i posted though :)
thank you for the link mg. looks interesting. will def. read that later.
Yeah, case is sweet!
Nice chair btw, good for reading and gaming! :)
Okay, my friend helped me with the build (basically, he did it, I feed him biltong & beer!)
Machine looks fucking fantastic and it runs whisper quiet, I'm so impressed. We put Windows 8.1 on there and it boots in seconds from the SSD... This machine is lightning fast!
Haven't had too long to play around, will do that more after work tomorrow, but managed to get STEAM and some games on it.
Skyrim & 2K Texture pack
Metro Last Light (£10!!! God I love Steam already!)
Holy moly, this GPU slaughters these games at 1080p!!! Skyrim, I must have had about 100+ FPS with everything on Ultra and Metro Last Light with everything on Ultra and highest tesilation must have been over 80FPS!!! Game looked incredible.
Steam Big Window is seriously fantastic, am def a complete convert now. 360 pad plugged in with no problems at all. Overall, incredibly happy with the build, really feels like the next level and thanks to everyone for the tips and tricks / advice while I've been doing this build.
Long live the PC Master Race!!! ;)
Congrats again Monkey, check your Steam chat window! ;)
"Long live the Gaming Master Race!!! ;)"
Sounds like everything is going well! I start building my new rig this weekend. Urrrrrrrgh can't wait
Big picture! Not big window mg :-).
lol, my bad! :D
I've just seen this...:
Bit gutted as I got diddly squat with my GTX 780... Anyway I can claim even 1 of these titles?
I felt kinda cheated when I got my 770, because the promotion at that time was for 6-series cards.
Totally backwards thinking. They should be rewarding people for going high end :P
If you're eligible for the promotion, there should be a code in the box.
Aww man, I kinda feel like I should upgrade my gfx card over getting a PS4 now, really tempted by a 780.
