Wearing my best Lewie Proctor hat for this one.

Well, yesterday I put my vote behind Borderlands GOTY edition for a reasonable £7.50 (and a piddly US$7.50) as most other things running we're either not that great (Op Flash RR sucks), acquired tastes (telltale stuff) or not really a deal (DoW Retribution). Honourable mentioned was Recettear but that was in a pack last sale so the deal is good but a better deal there has been)

Today has some sterner stuff mayhap. KOTOR is nice and cheap but maybe a bit old so the price seems like a reasonable price than a must dash now price. Shogun 2 is an excellent game but that price is probably fairly common around the online retail outlets but still worth a grab if that's what you are looking for.

Braid might be a nice touch for £1.74 and the Heroes 5 collection is dirt cheap, but I don't think it supports widescreen, which is a shame. Honourable mention goes to Devil May Cry 4 (£6.99) maybe not the best deal in the world, could have been a bit cheaper for sure, but the PC conversion was sublime, it runs like a dream and controls great if you have a 360 pad handy. Should be picked up to just show Capcom that they can get a few sales by doing a great job alone.

Pick of the Day: Just Cause 2 for £3.49. I put 20 hours into this, 20 hours of explosions, gun fights, gliding and stealing commercial aircraft and inhumanly planting them into to sky scrapers. I'd barely scratched the surface of either the game or sky scrapers thankfully. It's all great fun and it's chocked pack full of secrets. You can also net all the DLC for a £1.70 on top and get some nice toys to play with from the get go instead of having to unlock them.

I'm kinda bored so I'll just slap an update on this tomoz when the day's sales go up.

Big vouch for Just Cause 2.

If you don't buy it, you've either got a dated PC, or just absolutely no clue.

I won't be jumping on Shogun just yet. It's obviously going to be cheaper come the holiday sales, and I'm not in a rush to see Creative Assembly repeat themselves yet again.

It's worth keeping an eye on the indie games imo.

Anything from Introversion - Catalogue at HALF price
Anything from Blendo games - Catalogue at HALF price
Super Meat Boy - Best platformer since the last SMB
VVVVVV - HALF price, only fun for people who remember the C64
Anything Mount & Blade - Although the latest one is still bugged to fuck
Terraria - Super cute 2D Minecraft with combat focus
Defense Grid - Best non-zombie TD game around, MUST buy!
Revenge of the Titans - Maybe? Haven't tried it, been waiting for a sale!
Frozen Synapse - Is it good? I have no idea, but it looks tempting!

Special mention for the "Ben There, Dan That" and "Time Gentlemen, Please" bundle on Steam. It's ONE euro, and it's easily better than any adventure game that Telltale ever did.

That's pretty much all I can think of, off the top of my head. Those indies are generally so cheap on these sales, that they could well be a lot of enjoyment for anyone with a broad interest in games.

Most other stuff will probably be a question of genre interest versus saleprice.

Very good call on JC2 ( I had it on PS3 ), I'd just downloaded before I spotted this thread. Best sandbox game out there imo and at that price it'd be mad to miss out on it.

Just got Lead and Gold with the 1.5$ that I had left in my Steam wallet, it's the best 1.5 USD I ever spend in my entire life :D..

Even if they gave me 1,5 US dollars to play Lead and Gold, I still wouldn't.

No offence, enjoy the game, but yikes.

I picked up Frozen Synapse earlier and it's pretty good, but it definitely puts you to the test.

A friend of mine pointed out that the THQ bundle is a pretty good deal if enough of the titles interest you, £35, homefront, darksiders, metro 2033, company of heroes, saints row 2, one of the red faction games (guerrilla I think) a bunch of dawn of war shizzle.

Yeah the THQ pack is always a good bet, but the problem I have is that I still own most of the pack every time they update it.

Day 3 and my pick of the day is: Battlefield Bad Company 2 (£5.00). It looks so much better than the console versions that it's in your face noticeable about it. It's not without it's fair share of problems however as a friend of mine said the HDR just goes nuts on the single player for the PC making some of the snow levels blinding. However the single player is terrible anyway, but the multiplayer is full to the brim with great fun and the PC version sports 32 players. Not sure how the browser handles these days but you might be able to get in a game or two now.

Honorable mention goes to AvP 2010 (£3.74) I actually enjoyed this a hell of a lot. It's one of the finest PC ports in a log time. In fact I don't even think it's a port considering how fantastic it looks and handles. DX11 support and all the niceities that go with that, with some genuinely good gameplay and interesting and novel MP that sells the game as a package.

Others that are of interest are Fable 3 at £14.99, a relatively new release and it's full to the brim with charm, more so if you're a dog lover. The game isn't as good as the second one but it's still buckets of fun that lets you wonder around getting up to comical mischief.

Bioshock 2 (£3.49) is probably at the lowest price it's been on steam, as it was over 3 times that price last sale. Word of warning, it's not in the best of state after the last patch let lose some audio problems on a fair few of us. 2K promised to look into them but fucked us all off shortly after. Thanks, dicks. Darksiders (£5.00) is the same price as last sale and seems like an enjoyable GoW/Zelda romp, however it's also friend with Bioshock 2 in the dubious port awards as it doesn't bother to give the user and bloody options.

Magica (£2.71) and Meatboy (£5.99) are probably two price points that should also be taken note of for being two massively revered indie titles for those that enjoy that-sort-of-thing™

Bioshock 2 has been this price b4, me and a mate jumped on it last time.

About Darksiders, if you liked the original Soul Reaver, get this, it's almost a spiritual successor in my eyes.

Bad Co 2 is tempting, but I've put 500 hours into the xbox version and I've got a great set of squaddies on there so I think I'll give it a miss, even with the allure of 32 players and servers closer than Amsterdam.

Defense Grid at 2,24 euro is a must-buy. If you can't appreciate a tower defense game of that quality, you have no soul. And anyone who even breathed on Diablo should consider Torchlight at 3 euro.

Also MW2 at 20 euro. If you've been bitching at the game for a couple of years and never tried it, that price is worth it to qualify that bitching, and get even angrier!

Torchlight is a fantastic game, and I recommend The Champions Mod to anyone who has it. It rebalances the game a little bit, puts in more "champion" level enemies which spices up the challenge a little bit (the game is a little bit generous on difficulty if you've played this style of game before), also returns the Dark Zealot to their pre-patch damage levels - on harder difficulties they can one shot you before you see them on the most recent patch, also there's a Steam achievement for activating a mod, so count the birds you're hitting with that stone.

All Mount and Blades for 10 euro - MUST BUY. Fire and Sword is still in the process of being patched, but the rest are great value for money, with lots of mods to grab online. Think of a smaller scale Total War, but with you right in the middle of it. It's a steal at 10 euro, if you fancy a medieval combat sandbox.

RUSE is a pretty good multiplayer strategy game, but it was never worth the full price. For me the drop to 10 euro hit the spot. Nothing too revolutionary (basic rock, paper, scissors units) but it can be an awful lot of fun online with all the different armies and their strengths and weaknesses. Especially with friends.

Definitely get Atom Zombie Smasher at 3 euro if you have any ammount of love for either indie or strategy games. It's an ultra simple little game, but very challenging, and a lot of fun.

I'd recommend King's Bounty as well. It's a Might and Magic clone, but it doesn't take itself nearly as seriously, and it has a very light and relaxing feel to it. 6 euro for all of them is definitely worth it if you fancy any kind of turnbased army RPG like that.

Literally just downloaded steam today and the prices are amazing. It's got a nice selection of games too, really liking it at the moment. Downloaded TF2 but seeing as its the first time i've really gamed on a PC i suck balls. Anyway i need a cheap game to activate the full features, any suggestions?

Depends on what you like, there are tonnes of great little games.

If you just want something out of the blue, you can get "Ben There, Dan That" and "Time Gentlemen, Please", two very outstanding adventure games for just 1 euro right now.

They're absolutely top of the line if you like that sort of thing, and just plain cheap if you don't.

Gotta wonder who calls the prices on these games. Batman AA is £3.74 and came out a month later than Prototype which is £7.49. Batman was by far the more critically acclaimed (91 meta vs 79) and imo is a far better game overall (not that Prototype is bad). L4D2 and GTAIV are also cheaper despite being both newer and more critically acclaimed.

£7.49 isn't bad for a game, but comparatively it looks weak. I suppose Prototype might not have done great on PC thus they're trying to keep the price up slightly to recoup. I remember being warned off the PC version on account of poor optimisation and harsh cpu utility.

Anyone got Killing Floor btw? worth a fiver for the game and all the dlc?

I would imagine it was set by the publishers. The games from the more conservative publishers like Activision and EA tend to be higher.

I got Killing Floor at the Xmas sale, haven't played it a lot, but that's primarily because it bored me. It feels a bit like a weird mix between old Quake and a zombie game. I didn't give it a proper chance, though.

EMERGENCY RECOMMENDATION:

Get Terraria for 2,5 euro. That's an outrageously cheap price for a charming 2D fusion of Minecraft and Super Mario, with a major focus on combat, that keeps getting updated with even more content.

Yeah I've watched my friends play Terraria a lot and it's quite a neat little game, but I think most of the buzz about it has been lost and my frieds don't play it so much anymore.
But I agree, a very unique, fun and cheap game.

Yeah, unlike Minecraft, Terraria pretty much has an "ending". Eventually you hit a wall where there's nothing left to do, and because it's 2D, building is slightly less fascinating.

It's essentially focused on combat, and once you've killed all the bosses, and gotten the sweet loot, that's the end.

But the awesome thing about that, is that the developers keep updating it, so while I've got all the best items in the game right now, all I have to do is wait a month or two, and they'll have released enough patches for me to come back and kill even more bosses, and claim even more loot.

They've upped the price to 5 euro now for whatever reason, still worth it though.

That's a pretty good deal on the Assassins Creed shit, I'd be all over that if I didn't already have AC1 on PC and already finished AC2 on xbox. I can wait for Ass Bro to be a fiver.
