I can't see Zelda being moved or development being frozen, so let's assume the Wii U will still be around at least another year (if Zelda launchs late 2014, early 2015).
I can't see it setting the world on fire saleswise, I severly underestimated people who have basically been sitting, waiting for PS4 / Xbone. The hype train there is pretty huge.
The Wii U has def squandered it's lead though. It should have had MANY more titles available within the first year, we should be seeing the second tier of quality games now, when, in reality it feels like we are only just getting titles promised at launch.
To me, as long as a console has 10 or so exclusives I want to play, it justify's it's existance. PS3 is the same for me, I have about 10 or so exclusives games for that system, thats fine for me.
In that way, Im more than happy with the Wii U at the moment. It's going to see some great games next year, coupled with the fun and unique titles I already have.
Thing is, thats my personal feelings, and not everyone can afford multiple consoles. The Wii U is never going to go head to ead with PS4 / Xbone, although I don't think it was intended too.
It's only ever going to fit into that 'second' console space, and, at the moment the price just isn't quite there for some people.
£129 - £149 is impulse buy territory, and we are almost there. I think that will help.
Nintendo don't seem that worried though, which is strange. With 3DS they went into full panic mode and got the system going and games out the door... It's very suprising that they don't seem to really care about the Wii U?! Maybe they are ready to pull the plug... Who knows?!
I have no idea what there next console would be like, although i wouldn't want another PS4 / Xbone-a-like.
One things for sure, all this has shown how powerful third parties have become and how much they are in control of Sony / MS to a degree. I think Nintendo fight that more but it's dicing with death really...
"as a gamer, the system is pure gold.", couldn't agree more! :)
