Wasn't that it's rumoured name before it was announced.

It was called Vita when it was a dev kit. It was a codename before it was announced.

If this thing is going to be called VITA i will laugh my ass off.
Worst name ever. Even worse then Project Natal or Kinect

I just want them to give it a simple name, a synonym to portable like Mobile would suffice but mobile in particular will probably confuse most of us with the Xperia Play given the fact that Cell phones are commonly known as Mobile phones or just Mobiles.

Hmmm what to call this New, Gaming Portable..... nah i got nufin :D

I'm sure Sony will come up with a suitably simple and uninspiring name for it. Like Play Station 2, then 3, PlayStation home, PlayStation move, PlayStation portable. Basically when it's to do with PlayStation its name is always "PlayStation 'most obvious word connected to what it is'". Although having said that, simple can sometimes mean better.
How about PlayStation Too big to fit in your Pocket Portable or Playstaion Big Pocket Portable for short. The PSBPP.

Vita is a crappy name!
although that poster is a very good fake if it is.
Fold mark down the middle shows its printed.
and its got TM and R after Sony and Vita so wouldnt that mean if it is fake there breaking the law?Posted 2 years ago # -
Does a name have to be good/inspiring?
I'm never put off a product because of it's name.

Well actually the name of a product can be very important. Think about it with games. If a game came up with a name that didn't fit it's genre or sounded bad, it could potentially ruin its sales. The only reason this never happens is because everyone knows this so they spend alot of time and effort into finding a good name. And anyway I said that simple is sometimes better, its just that it would also be nice if Sony did something interesting. At least Microsoft tries (if a little badly, Kinect)
Oh and also "I'm never put off a product because of it's name.". If you came across two items of similar properties and one had a name that's more interesting to you, you'll go for that one every time. It basic human psychology.

PSP2 is most logical, I don't know why they'd go against it.

Vita? Eh? It sounds like a low-fat Yoghurt.

@onlineatron
You're right and the 80 or so million folks who bought the Wii, after we had all pissed out our bladders laughing about it once the name was revealed, didn't care either.
