Hi guys, yet again I'm asking for PC advice since the VG247 community has been really helpful to me in the past.

First I've got an idea for a graphics card. I don't want to spend more than £200($300) so the GTX560ti is looking good for me. Anyone know if it's good or bad?

Secondly this time I need a recommendation. Like the graphics card I'm not planning on spending more than £200($300)-£250($375) on a monitor but I want a good one since this one I've got now is very old and is 4:3.

Any help you guys can give me will be much appreciated. Thanks.

As far as Monitor is concerned, is playing in your living room an option? I use my 42inch HDTV, pretty amazing experience. Plus I am not cramped into a my office - a nice touch.

560ti? It's a good one, but probably you will need a good 650w power supply also or just go with GTX 460 1GB

monitor? What size you want?

For a monitor I don't need something big probably about 22-32 inches with HD support.

Edit: My power supply is 450W I think

Yeah you will definitly need a new PSU whether you get the 460 or the 560TI you will need a PSU so you now have to keep that in mind. A good PSU around 750W will be around 80$ like it was for me.

@someguy2, 450W is not enough even for 460.

Starting from 400 series of Geforce you need 550W+ PSU.

LG W2453V-PF i think will be good for you.

@Phoenixblight, 750W is overkill for electricity bills if you are going to use just one videocard.

I have a Gigabyte GTX 560 TI Super Overclocked for about 220€. Performance wise it's on par with a 570 while being more silent and a lot cooler. I can only recommend that one. However,as Erth said, you'll need a 500-650W PSU.
Oh and avoid No-name PSUs like the plague.

My Electricity bill has been unaffected by this new PSU, if anything it maybe have bumped 5$.

£200? That's too expensive, I'm Australian & I'm used to paying 30-60% more than the rest of the world but the same card at my local PC component retailer only costs between $237(Inno3D)/259(ASUS) which is £153/167.

As for the monitor, I'm not entirely sure that there's a visual difference between a monitor or regular TV but anything with HDMI input & a 1920x1080 resolution. I'd assume that the only real difference between a tv & monitor is that TV supports more functions like a tuner.

I switched from a Radeon 5-series to a Zotac Geforce 560ti, and didn't need any sort of upgrade in terms of power. The store I bought it from recommends a 500w powersupply.

So far I have no complaints, it's churning pixels like a mofo, but it's a pretty noisy bugger once the fan really starts going. It could do with a less noisy fan, but it definitely feels like good value for money in terms of performance.

My motherboard is a Asus P7H55-M SI. Do you think I would need a new motherboard for a new PSU?

@someguy2, nope. It's absolutely fine. You can buy any PSU for this motherboard.

Just avoid chinese knock offs.

A standard GTX 560 TI uses up to 320W in games (~180W while idle). Your 450W PSU may be able to handle the card depending on the other components you use but just to be safe I'd upgrade to a 550W+ PSU. Otherwise your PC may shut down when your graphics card is stressed.

I used a 400W PSU before I upgraded my graphics card but had to replace it because it couldn't handle the load as soon as i played a game for a couple of minutes. The 50W divergence between yours and mine could make the difference considering I use a non standard 560 which consumes slightly more power than a normal one ( I think + ~40W). But as I said you'd be safer if you'd get a new one.

Avoid chinese knockoffs or crappy ones because even if they write 550w or 650w that does not mean they have 550 or 650.

I use an Antec Earthwatts 750W very good brand and very reasonable on the price too.

To be honest... For that price you can find only a solid PSU with poor efficiency.
Good PSU in most cases start from 90£

If you are going to buy 560ti, you should be prepared for overheating problems and PSU is important because it can kill your motherboard and everything on your PC. It's a very important part of your PC.

Geforce 560ti is a gamers videocard. They expect you to have a decent PSU.

but i can recommend you for that price "Chieftec A135 650W" or "COOLER MASTER GX-SERIES 650W PSU" or "CORSAIR PSU TX V2 650W 12CM ATX2.31 80+"

If that's the case then I would be willing to pay more. I don't want the PSU to be detrimental to my PC and I want top quality performance. I want to play Battlefield 3 perfectly and I don't think that my current GPU is BF3proof

Then i recommend you CORSAIR PSU 650W 12CM ATX12V2.2 80+ EPS . It's a freakin good 650W PSU. One of the best in the market (for 650W)

THERMALTAKE PSU 575W 14CM 80+BRONZE CABM (575W PSU) not a bad alternative. There is also a 775W version of this PSU but cost of it a bit more then with CORSAIR PSU 650W

go figure.

PS: If you want to save a bit more money, then go for GTX 470. It's cheaper then 560ti but almost the same performance (560ti is more powerfull, but not so much for a huge generation leap), both noisy and gamers type of videocards.
but if you are going to buy GTX 470 you need to have a solid 650W one. 400 series are hot, so they require a strong PSU.

I can't recommend the GTX 470. The heat management is just terrible - 90°C under stress, 50°C while idle - you can boil eggs with that thing.

@Schindet Nemo, IF your Power Supply is not enough, then it will boil eggs.

There is a minimum requirement for it when you buy it: 550W

@ Erth All temperature tests with a GTX 470 i read were extremly negative. Take this one for example

They used a Corsair HX1000W and it still reached 90°C.

A friend of mine bought it anyway and he has constant problems with it. I wouldn't get it, at least not with standard cooling.
