I promise I will start an "intellectual discussion" thread one day too.. I promise..
about ratings (again) .... (sorry)(3 posts)
I cannot be very intellectual per se but here are my thoughts.
Ratings are a family complacency in disguise for move/game evaluation to "protect" this or that while just like in the link you provided, PARENTS have to do their job to lead, direct, educate their own kid(s) and stop pointing fingers at anyone else but self.
Although, it is not entirely parents fault because beside genre, type and style, nowadays TV shows and features just force feed with a jackhammer emotional onto its viewers.
For example, I saw my daughter watching Spongebob, After several episode, just because of its non-stop re-occurring drama/bad jokes and intensely irritating characters. I just locked up the whole dam channel, called my TV provider and cancel every freaking packages because I am tired of that dam shit anyway.
Now, I did watch rated 13 movies with my 9 year old daughter whom was surprised and in some ways and may have liked the feature films but did not become crazy, or any word that can be associated with an ending "path" nor did I see any change in her behaviors beside the fact she is turning into a pre-teen which is to be expected anyway.
Also as we have seen with Ratings countless of times, they are manipulated down or up just to trigger a profiled audience through PR and marketing.
So to me, they may just get rid off Ratings, that would not make me cold or hot because in all honesty I don't care about it.
Btw, and to show how much I care about Ratings, While I am aware they exists, I constantly ask my daughter what those letters and number are for...
