I Sold Too Many Copies of GTA V To Parents Who Didn't Give a Damn(34 posts)
Christ, did none of you people ever watch Rated R movies before you were of age? One of my favorite movies as a child was The Omen. And I was watching slasher movies at the age of 10.
As long as you've properly taught your children the difference between fiction and reality, playing GTA V shouldn't be a big deal. I'd be more offended by children playing COD, where it's not so much the action itself that would bother me, but the whole vibe of war being this big, cool thing and how giving your life for the military industrial complex is something you should strive for.
"A man who truly loves his country doesn't just give his life for it...he gives his son's" is a lot more worrying thing for children to hear than anything in GTA.
... But then you take a look at someone scratching the outline of 9000 bodies onto the beaches of Normandy, and do a double take of your once-occupied country, and realize that the third reich doesn't actually exist anymore, and then you're really quite thankful that some people think that violence and death is something worth devoting yourself to.
People are just spoiled brats. I hope I never find myself in a position where I have to rely on those pussies to give their lives for my future. Something tells me they aren't gonna show.
Clupula, I cannot talk for anywhere else than France, We never had any rating stuffs prior the EU, and while rating for game exists, no one really cared much for it in France because they are not used to it nor do they give a dam about it and prefer to monitor their kid themselves instead of relaying on stamped ratings.
Age of 8 watched Amytiville, Age of 10~11 was Freddy, age of 12~13 was first GTA and so on and so forth. none of which made me a psycho-socio-path.
