Reminds me of... oh hell, what was it called? Gah!! R... fff. Rygar?
Yes, Rygar! Had a look. Rygar was kind of like a Conan platformer, except they couldn't license Conan, so they called it Rygar. At least, that's what it felt like back then, going by the look of the character. That probably wasn't the case at all, though.
Still, Rygar was a pretty good game.
The only thing I'm not a fan of when it comes to Volgarr really is the gratuitous blood-spurting. It doesn't really serve any purpose other than to obscure the graphics that I'm trying to look at. If I were younger, I'd probably want that, but now? It just tends to look ugly and it ruins the aesthetic to a degree. Kind of like drawing a moustache on a painting.
It's just not for me. I respect people who like it, though. But I'd be more for it if there were an option to turn off the gore.
Still, I can see that it's a great game. I might still get it.
I just wish there was a 'pointless gore' checkbox. Y'know? Then I'd definitely be all over it. Even now though I can recognise that it's a really cool game.
