   Always around E3 I start wondering if it is time for console games to start dropping in price?
   360- Came out 2005, so it is 6 years old
   Wii- Came out 2006, so it is 5 years old
   PS3- Came out 2006, so it is 5 years old

   So maybe it is still too early to expect a drop in Game Prices right out of the gate. Maybe with the Announcement of Project Cafe, Wii games may get cheaper, but I doubt it. I expect a HUGE flood of Crap for Wii, though there still is a Flood of Crap on the Wii. So at E3 I expect them to focus on 3DS and Cafe.

   With the 360 getting close to 10 year cycle, I figure we won't hear anything this year along game prices and they will focus on the Kinect!

   With PS3, NO WAY can games get cheaper, they are going to need all the money they can get with PSN-Gate! So they will focus on Move and NGP!

   Oh well, I doubt no price drops on games at all this year..but E3 should still be a Blast this year!

   Prices have risen in Australia since this new gen. Our retailers are more competitive with trade in offers rather than offering a good price.
   Can someone please explain to me why we Aussies are still paying a minimum of $79 for a new game, took 3 months for Naughty Bear to drop below that, the average normally sits between $89-109 when our dollar is superior to the USD & they pay less than half!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!!?
   & believe it or not but New Zealanders are even worst of than we are when it comes to games @ retail.

   Thats crazy Chris. I would stalk to the bargin bins if I lived there. Also would prolly only play PC games. You can buy off of Steam at normal prices can't ya? And I would import. I know not telling you anything you don't already know, but wow those prices are bad.

   And yes Frosty, I am with you, prices should come down. but this is the point when these companies recoup their losses and investments from years gone by. they have been artificaly keeping hardwere prices high by offering "more value" in the box instead of dropping the price. I expect them to continue that with pack in games/controlers and such.

   A 100usd xb360 would be great for moving stock, but so long as sales don't completly flatline, I doubt we will see anythin glike that for a long time.

   They are cheaper providing you don't buy on day one. I usually wait a while and see what happens to the price, it's very rare I buy anything at launch.

   Valve even screw us, Brink is currently $89.99USD on the Aussie version of Steam. They've got time to raise the price specifically for us but they can't even convert USD to AUD -_-

   Other then currency converting, the price should be exactly the same imo for a digital download. I really don't understand that one.

   I don't know about anyone else, but i buy the vast majority of my games used. There's no way i'm paying £45 for every game i buy.
   If they dropped the prices i might buy them though, and i'm probably not the only one, so dropping the price could end up profitable for them.

   I'm like Blerk. I only buy games once they drop to around €30 unless they are games I really want and know that I will enjoy them a lot (Uncharted for example)

   I used to be like you guys, but now I buy day one and sell it two weeks later. If you buy online and sell to Gamestation you can often make a profit.

   Much as I'd like games to be cheaperer, dev costs soared this gen and they don't get any cheaper just because the console have been around for a while. It's all the extra content that costs.

    Pachter (whatever you think about him) is right when it comes to this subject.

    Gamers are getting much more value these days than they were in the past.

    A game giving you 10-12 hours gameplay used to cost £40.

    Now I can go to Tesco and pick up a copy of the latest CoD, day one, for £25. Up to 1000 hours (potentially) of online gameplay for less.

    If game prices go up, devs can certainly justify it with an example like this.

    prices should be $39.99 new if they want to maximize new game sales before used game sales cannibalize them. and its not like they wont make money off dlc.... ea online pass is retarded. i borrowed both need for speed hot pursuit and dead space 2. neither game was worth $60. doesn't really matter though, retail is forcing games low because they wont sale at $60 and there dumping stock/prices quicker these days because the us economy has rebounded so well. lower the price or go out of business i don't fucking care anymore. this is also my last year of live if i cant find a card for $30. espn is complete garbage.

    For UK peeps, at first they are quite high at £45/£40 and if your really desperate for it you could preorder or buy day one. But if you give it a few weeks or months, they drop quite dramatically. For instance, Crysis 2 is only £23 on the GAME website currently.
