   So I was at work today (gamestation) and I read a notice on the computer that microsoft want to do a campaign to sell xbox's off the back of the PSN downtime.

   So basically if the downtime goes on any longer, microsoft want to do posters that say 'Fed up of PSN being down, trade-in your PS3 for a 360 today' and knowing what gamestation is like (pro 360) they will do it.

   To me it seems stupid to hurt PS3 sales on gamestations part but I'm sure microsoft will compensate them for it.

   What do you think?

   I think it would be a poor show on the part of gamestation, I also think there won't be that many people who are willing to trade in their Ps3 then pay another £120-140 in Live subs for the rest of the generation after 5 years of free PSN, not to mention any digital purchases they've made and mid-game progress they've made on PS3 titles. Realistically the cons by far outweigh the pros.

   I think some basement geeks with no patience will bite the bait.
   I personally traded my 360 to get away from paying for online games & the exclusives were influential too.

   Fuuuuck, don't you just love it when you glimpse the dark heart beneath the cuddly exterior of businesses? Ideally some crusader with a Sony soft spot should collect this info & give it to some games journo's.... maybe ;)

   actually tht's pretty shitty on both MS and gamestations part. I knew they could be sly but come on sony hasnt down tht when LIVE has been down -_-

   Two things, first it hasn't happend yet. Just some guy posting it will on the net, no offense.

   Secondly, what do you want them to do? Tell people no, we(game) won't take your PS3 or we(MS) won't sell you a new xb360?

   Crazy, if things where the other way around you can bet Sony would be happy to supply new PS3s to anyone that wanted to trade in, and Game would be thrilled to turn a coin over it.

   In the end it is just bizz.

   I'd like to add that harboring hate for one company and love for another is just plan bonkers.

   I don't think the hardcore gamers would bite for this as they will most likely own both consoles anyway. But someone who just plays fifa or madden or cod or gta when they turn up might go for this.
