I really want to know how both ends have hold up in the recent years.
There is a real mouth to mouth war going on between Xbox users and Ps3 users..

a quick research on google says the christmas 2007 xbl downtime wasn't nearly as long. 4 days at max. and it wasn't down, it was limited and unstable.

No it wasn't. You must have had internet problems those two weeks it was down for 2 days if that. I was working for Xbox Live that year, You want to talk about people raging about not being able to play Halo or COD X_X SO glad I am done with that type of work.

Phoenixlight you work for xbox live, thats good iam always wanted to work in the industry at least once, on any type of job, not for money or the work, just to know i were part of this indutry in the other side of the coin ,may i ask how was your experience?

This was customer service we had to take in calls depending on your team which mine was Xbox Live and X box hardware. Usually I took in calls about Xbox live like connecting it to the net, or the RROD and checking to see if there in warranty etc. Its a horrible job with pretty crappy pay I got more money from working at Walmart as a stocker than I did that job.
Not sure about where you live but if you want to get in the industry (game industry I assume) I would suggest going to school for a related major if there isn't a game development related one (programming, art.) I am very fortunate to live in the Game Development Capital in the US to have not just one school but two to pick from that have degrees that specialize with the industry and they even have it broken down into three aspects as it should be (Design, Art, Programming) and its supported by local developers; Bioware, NCsoft, Midway (prior to bankruptcy) and the schools hire people that not only have a degree but actual experience in the industry.

I worked as a tester at Rare for a while. Worked on the last dashboard update. It was a cool job and I got to see a lot of how everything works.
Well... to be honest, the mystery is better than the reality

@Hunam
It always is.
FOr me I play a game and I think what if they did X instead of Y or I think I could do something different than X studio. I have always wanted to be a game designer and would have never gone to school if it wasn't for the local college and University but now I will get experience and hands on versus google and eguides and lurking forums on how to make a game work. Being in the city I am in I will get a lot of work experience even if its contractual work until I land a job I will enjoy doing.
