First I will start this off at stating this is my opinion. Whether liked or not doesn't matter, but I would like to know your outlooks. I have played both betas for kz3 and crysis 2 although I liked kz3s presentation a lot better. I was stuck between a rock and a hard place with getting 1 over the other because a friend of mine who wanted to play more games with me said let's get crysis 2. So in the end I let my wife decide and she choose crysis 2 for me.
Off the back crysis 2 definetly was graphically superior to its demo version. But, I was stuck in awe that the beta of kz3 still looked better. I continued pressing through cysis 2 and it had some cool effects but it still just don't wow me like I kinda hoped. The water effects are better then the demo. But still weak. I then took time to explore the "destructable" environment. And although at first glance things were pretty. I then started to notice texture cracks. Like on the ambulance truck the. Emblem. Would jump when I strafed around it. The order of destruction to the vehicles made no since.
I punched the windows and the doors fell off. Then I shot the windows and they cracked then the door fell. But, fortunately shootin the front window actually broke the glass. I don't think this gam2e so far deserves a higher score then kz3. I would actually. Switch the scores betweem the 2. Bnut. Let me know some of your feedback people. Ok?

No prob spider, it kinda pisses me off. Because, how much reviewers made crysis 2 seem so original. I feel like hands down kz3 beats it in that department of originality. I guess ill be picking it up. Later either next. Week or in 3 weeks

Why does Crysis 2 get compared to KZ3 so much? I don't get it.
I can't really take the graphics race seriously, and Crysis 2 is certainly gorgeous, in spite of feeling very unfinished graphically now and then. Water and glitched textures are very noticeable at times, but all in all it looks great (on PC).
Really the problem is with the lousy AI, the unexpected switch from intelligent gameplay to run and gun gameplay, and for the PC audience, the lackluster support, especially in graphical options, and the multiplayer system, which is pretty much all but broken, and was known to be by the developers ever since the beta.
Example of AI: I'm in a building looking at two CELL soldiers. They're about a foot apart, talking to eachother. I creep behind a column so one is visible, and the other is not. I shoot the visible one in the head with a suppressed pistol, remaining cloaked. He grasps his blood gushing throat, obviously shot, and his buddy is like "Hey! What's happening?!" while his friend hits the ground in front of him. Then he says something along the lines of "Oh, must've been nothing" and stands around waiting to get his. Intelligent AI? Fuck off.
There's no excuse. Programming wise there's absolutely no explanation as to why a soldier would stand down after having been engaged by a world destroying supersoldier, and yet that's what these guys do, over and over again. You disappear for 3 seconds, and they stand around an invisible watercooler and have a cup of coffee.
I've been writing a lot of comments with my opinions on the game, so I guess I don't need to flog a dead horse, but I am pretty disappointed. As a gratuitous action movie it does a fair job of spectacle, but the gameplay is very basic, and it definitely doesn't live up to its heritage.

Omg dsb I completely forgot to mention that too. I started the game on hard and expected to epically die. And, I died more on my own then by the cpu. I died via super jump from high platforms more then from the ai. Although ai doesn't matter when you can easily pick everyone off with the cloak. I shot three enemies in the head at a time because I just walked up on them and shot from right to left all head shots. It was pathetic.lol
And I compare it to kz3 because they are direct competitors to me for the release times. I wouldn't compare bulletstorm at all to either one of these. And, the cover system on crysis 2 is pretty horrible. It was almost like the guy literally steps out while the cpu leans out top half only.
I have to get kz3 now, I have no choicePosted 2 years ago # -
Yeah, I actually read the difficulty settings, and on the "normal" one it said "For experienced FPS players. Test yourself against challenging enemies" so remembering how hard Far Cry was to begin with, I was thinking "This should do the trick"... And instead I found myself walking all over everything, and taking next to no damage.
And that's when I discovered that you can only change difficulty to easier settings... Not harder... Which makes no sense, what so ever. I had to restart the campaign after having played an hour or two. I was hoping that would make the enemies smarter, but all I got were more enemies spawning in combat, with more damage taken. Sadly, they were still just as easy to take out, so that didn't change a lot.

Yeah, I'm hoping it evolves more in the later part of the campaign. But, I don't see it happening. I feel like all I'm gonna see is more guns and more ownage to the cpu. I got pissed when I found out I couldn't shoot the sick people. I shot every one I saw and I couldn't kill 1 of them. -_- I'm getting pissed thinking about it

Yeah, did the same thing :P The dead ones are also remarkably warm if you turn on nanovision. It's just not very throught through.
Like I say in the other thread, for me it keeps going between Transformers, Terminator (the future battle parts), Enemy of the State and Cloverfield. That's pretty much it.
I'm not finished yet, but it does throw some increasingly powerful flash and bang at you, the further along you get.

Ill look forward to that, geez why didn't I just whore this games multiplayer out? Atleast the cutscences look nice. For a 4 gb hdd download though I would've expect f'in marvelous

You forgot to mention the dumb A.I. Lex.
Crysis 2 A.I. is so dumb it makes O'Connor look like a rocket scientist!
Posted 2 years ago # -
I can't say I've seen any of the dumb AI you have mentioned above, I'm not saying it's not there (they are probably just glitches), but I've tried some of the things you've mentioned above. For example; I tried your example with the two soldiers close together, cloak shooting them with a suppressed pistol, and they just say "ally down" and begin searching for me.
PS. I'm playing on Supersoldier difficulty.
Posted 2 years ago # -
I used the scarab unsurpressed. And shot straight across 3. and I just got done obliterating a squad from a roof top after kicking a car on top of them. The ai didn't even search my direction they just stood there.

@Dralen It's definitely not a glitch. It never fails, so it's obviously programmed. The only exception I've seen is a mass of 5-8 guys at the church who seemed to be actively searching.
Is Super Soldier the hardest difficulty? I'm on the next to hardest. I forget what it's called. I don't get why developers can't stick with a standard scale instead of getting cryptic.
The problem is the increased difficulties start throwing more and more enemies at you, so that becomes the real challenge, rather than the cannonfodder AI. I'm having to exploit doorways and corners to get rid of them, because they're always on target when you're visible, so in some sections, the game really sets you up to be slaughtered. And with unintuitive checkpoints that lose you 15-20 minutes of gameplay if you die towards the end, I'm just not willing to experiment with it.
That really sums up my experience quite well. The design choices are just mindboggling.

The max difficulty is called Post Human Warrior - my bad. Not sure where I got super soldier from lol.
Posted 2 years ago # -
Is that what you're playing?
I'll give it a spin when I'm done on Veteran, just to see if the AI gets better :P

@DSB Yeah :).

crysis 2 is a great looking game, it has a really shit multiplayer though in my opinion, far too many bullshit moments to tolerate it. i dont think i've ever felt as frustrated over a multiplayer game like crysis 2. its like some people are charmed with taking entire clips to them without dying.
as for kz3 v crysis 2, i think both are really gorgeous games, the cryengine is great and i personally prefer crysis 2 singleplayer but kz3 multiplayer is a lot more enjoyable, have not felt a bit of frustration whilst playing that online.
