the call of dutys, halos (never saw the fuss in halo) and bad companys i disliked, each to their own, i know they are very popular but i could never get into them, single player or multiplayer, the way the guns felt, sometimes felt cheated when killed but that all changed when i completed kz3 single player and tried the multiplayer...wow!

from the feel of the weapons (especially playing as medic)to the balancing of the maps it all feels just right, not once have i felt i've been cheated when i've been killed, it feels great getting double or triple kills and headshots, i actually feel part of a big scale battle and the noise of the guns being fired, watching your team mates rip apart the enemy with sprays of machine gun fire is just excellent. operations is a terrific mode, it has purpose yet you can still tear the opposing team a new arsehole like a tdm if you so wish. did i mention the sound effects of the guns? my god just awesome!

i know the games mentioned above are very popular, especially halo and call of duty, so this isnt another dig at the 360 which some on here love to do everyday in hypocritical fashion(its actually my 1st choice machine) but if you own a ps3 also or just own a ps3 and a bit tired of fps, give this a try, in my opinion its made me love the genre when previously it was 3rd person all the way. 10/10.

Not a fan of shooters myself, but I enjoyed the demo of KZ3, best cover system in an fps ever! I do admit that I like the Halo franchise, but after the 3rd one, I haven't really enjoyed it as much, in the PS2 era the only fps i played were Timesplitters 2 & Star Wars Battlefront (1 & 2), there's an obvious pattern here, I don't like shooters based in a modern day, I like the pure fun & batshit craziness of Timesplitters 2 & I love Star Wars so the transition was easy to make, so for me to go out & buy an FPS it needs one of two things, 1)An insane amount of fun or 2) have to love the universe. To me KZ3 falls just short of both categories but I will still get later when the price has dropped.
This generation has completely skipped the pure fun shooters, let's hope Duke Neukem changes that (I thought Bulletsotrm was meh at best).

do you think we'll see a kz4 on ps3 or will they take their time with story (felt that was weak) and maybe start work on a new engine for ps4?

also, anyone else think the girl character is very much like eva mendez in appearance?

I have fallen in love with the online multiplayer of Killzone 3. I didn't really like Killzone 2's multiplayer, mainly because of the lag on the controls which really put me off. They seem to have balanced it just right in Killzone 3 and I really love how different each class is. My favourite class at the moment is Marksman. I love the feel of the snipers, it's actually a real challenge with sniper's (unlike COD games). I don't usually pick Sniper classes, I'm usually an assault guy, but cloaking and getting that perfect headshot is so satisfying.

My only gripe with Killzone 3 is there isn't enough maps to choose from. I hope we get more than just a couple in the forthcoming map pack.

How many players is KZ3?

After playing MAG I gotta say most games feel too small in scope for me. I am used to games like WoW where a battleground like WinterGrasp can have seemingly hundreds of players. It chaos and fun. I just can't get excited with a four on four match Halo style. Both CoD and BF have too few players on consoles. I feel like we are fish in a barrel. BF > CoD, lest the maps are expansive.

But how about KZ3?

Is it more then 6v6 or 8v8? Is the demo an OMP demo? Guess I can look into that.

Multiplayer games are 24 players or 12vs12.

Funny you should say that. What I've heard from people who've played the game is that it's basically an amalgam of all other console shooters. Like Halo had a baby with Call of Duty.

I think there's a hidden graph of multiplayer shooter maturity. At some point something just goes *click* and you just finally get it.

Try F.E.A.R 1 & 2 if your looking for something more than an ordinary shooter, both are excellent but the 1st one and its DLC/expansions is in my opinion one of the best FPS games about.

KZ3 is my favorite FPS this gen too. COD4 is a close second.

glad to see ppl liking it. personally i think its a big step down from kz2(both online and offline).
im gonna trade in kz3 for crysis 2.

Haven't got to the fifth mission in this game I feel qualified to give my opinion.
I was disappointed with 2 as most of the regulars will know but I am really enjoying 3.
Good solid game overall imo with good graphics and variety game play wise.
Playing it on 2nd difficultly and still getting killed lots so I imagine elite will be a struggle.
On line is pretty decent as well and am personally enjoying operation mode which is something from me as I always play FFA in games.

I reckon guerilla games have hit the nail on the head here and kz will become another top franchise.
Sure the game mimics many others but as fps goes this game is done bloody well so go out and rent it to see what you reckon and ignore the nay sayers.
I hate when a good game gets overlooked because of expectations and if you like fps games done well this will not disappoint imo.

still loving this, i think its much better than crysis 2's online, crysis 2 online for me despite having grasped the whole suit energy thing is the most frustrating online multiplayer i've ever come across, the single player is better than kz3's imo though.

i just wish gg had added more maps for the operations mode, getting a tad bored of just the three at the moment.
