I just got my PC and I've done some tests. Recommended for Civ 5, SC2, Crysis 2, Dragon Age 2 and Bulletstorm (pass, recommended specs aren't up yet) and so I am now happy. What games should I get? I already have HL2, Portal 1 and TF2 installed via Steam and I'm planning on getting SC2 so any recommendations?
Just got my PC, now what to get?

Half Life 2 Episode 2 is up on steam for 75% off if you haven't got it already. Might be a good deal on this weekend too, I would keep an eye out for that.

Depends on what you like. Steam has a lot of games :)
Sales are definitely worth looking out for, even if you should always practice a bit of impulse control.

Don`t buy Bulletstorm, it is overrated, but with just couple of hours to enjoy in it.
Crysis 2 will be better, as far MP is concerned, and even story is 2x longer than in Bulletstorm.
Dragon Age is worth buying if you like 3rd person strategy management, as not many players like it (better to buy Mass effect 2).
Starcraft2 is good, but not that much as it was 10years ago, so if you like to play space marine shooting better buy Dawn of War 2 collection (gaming is like in Dragon Age).
Witcher is awesome and I totally recommend it.Posted 2 years ago # -
Titan Quest: Immortal Throne
Steam in general lol

The list can go on infinitely because PC games are a wide bunch. Are you looking for graphics? If so, here are some FPS to look at (no particular order)
Crysis Wars
Half-life2, EP1, and EP2
Battlefield 2 (BF3 coming soon tho)
Crysis 1, Warhead, Crysis mods (if you havent played them yet)
F.E.A.R. (old but good)
Metro 2033 (looks amazing on max settings)
Left 4 Dead 1 and 2
S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear SkyTo name a few.

Hi guys this is my new account since I forgot the password for my leplatypus account. I already have everything on the orange box and I bought the Crysis maximum edition for a tenner today. I'll get L4D2 and SC2 soon and are there any Battlefield 2 servers still up for me to plasy on?

I recommend that you get the complete edition of GTA IV, it had numerous problems in the beginning, but with the latest patch it is running without any major problems and since you are on a new rig I assume that you would be able to run it on high settings. Believe it or not I would actually also recommend Bully, they did patch it and it runs smoothly. I had so much fun playing it.
I would also recommend Monday Night Combat, it is insanely fun online! I am playing it regularly with two of my friends. Uber Entertainment does a great job in supporting the game post release.
I would also recommend all the games mentioned in the previous posts. If you like The Witcher, don't forget to pre-order The Witcher 2.

I'm probably going to lose respect for this but, I have no idea what The Witcher is, I've seen tonnes of people in the comments section excited for The Witcher 2. I'll give it a look and see if there's a demo on Steam.

Minecraft.
I know it's not a graphical powerhouse or anything, but it's my favourite game ever.

Star Wars Rogue Squadron 3D

The Oregon Trail
Quake
Hugo
Delta ForcePosted 2 years ago # -
Really tough question to answer without knowing anything about your gaming preferences.
So, err... Minecraft?
I'd also like to say that both Dragon Age and Bulletstorm are awesome, so there Heinekeno.

Minecraft
Mafia II demo - don't buy the full game because it sucks, but it probably has some of the more impressive graphics (realtime shadows on everything in large outdoor areas).
Battlefield: Bad Company 2
I prefer Civ III and IV
FIFA 11 if you have a PC 360 controller
X3: Terran Conflict + Patch - even though it's an expansion to X3: Reunion, do not get that one. There are many changes. It's much easier to play.
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Fallout: New VegasPosted 2 years ago # -
I'm praying my PC will be ready for Battlefield 3. I have several consoletard friends (I refer to them as that because they don't acknowledge the PC as a good platform.) whom keep asking me to get it on 360 and I respond saying "no I'm going to get it on PC" hopefully my PC will be ready.

Actually, after playing Mafia II, I'm amazed to say that I'd actually recommend it.
As an openworld game it fails pretty badly, and it's still a comfortable distance away from a masterpiece, but the combat is tight, the city is beautiful, and it's refreshing to ride around in cars from that era. If you can stand that it pretty steals every little part of the plot from either The Godfather or Goodfellas, then you'll quite probably like it.
I would probably not recommend it for the full price though, got it on sale, and I'm pretty damn pleased with that.
The biggest shame is that they didn't even give half a fuck about the DLC. It's just ultra sloppy work. Not worth it, at any price.
Just to throw in the ones I've enjoyed the most:
Minecraft - Yes
Super Meat Boy (Might want an Xbox 360 controller with a USB connection)
Portal
Dragon Age: Origins + Awakening
Civilization IV
Stalker + Complete Mod - Google the mod, it's the only way the game is playable.
Psychonauts (Much better with 360 controller)
Grid (360 controller)
Company of Heroes + Opposing Fronts
Monday Night Combat
King's Bounty - like Might and Magic, except it's fun.
Just Cause 2 (360 controller)
Evil Genius
Defense Grid: The Awakening - A must-buy, in my opinion.
Uplink/Darwinia/Defcon - Amazing indie games.
Borderlands + DLC - Works best in coop.
Modern Warfare 2 - Not recommended if you're in a country with lousy internet coverage.
Plants versus Zombies - It's plants, versus zombies.Posted 2 years ago # -

Whatever you do LePlatypus don't invest in anything Blizzard. Apparently the CEO doesn't appreciate his fans or the user base. Instead he mocks them. Don't buy anything Blizzard.

I second Erth on getting magicka. Power to the indie, that game is a blast! Only $10

Calm down TEA. They might be greedy, but they make one hell of a finished project. Quality control @ some of its finest!

I recently bought Dawn of War 2: Retribution, I'm finding it a blast, but I've never enjoyed the multiplayer, The Last Stand (survival mode) if awesome though.

Just thought I'd put in Machinarium, as well. Wonderful little indie game.
