Might be cool to get an idea of what folks listen to. Maybe even get exposed to something you haven't heard before.

Suprised?

I started listening to Scorps(maybe best band of all time, imo) in the early days early/mid 70s. I slowly became a fan of heavy rock/metal from Led Zep to Rainbow to Sabbath and all of the way on up through 70s/80s/90s(where music almost died)/till today.

I like all sorts of stuff from Simon and Garfunkel/Peter Paul and Mary to Metalica/DragonForce. Strange, music is.

What do you folks listen to?

Thats to name a few. Like i said, i listen to music all day long. I drive about 120miles (193 kilometers) a day at the least. I work alone in my own office (people tend not to bother me). I work more at home (concept art). so i have lots of time for music.

I wouldnt say i listen to specific bands.
Instead i listen to, just, good music!
Good music can be all sorts and flavours.
From heavyly hyptnotic electro beats, over alternative music, to straight -in-ur-face stuff, back to classic in the likes of beethoven and mozart.
If its good, bring it on.

older, dont know why, it just came to my mind, a band u could like: volbeat.

oh yeah i forgot music of past times.
i love elvis and sinatra
man theres so so so much good music, how one can say "im just listening to metal/electro/whatever" is completely beyond me.

Oh and my username originates from the doors and jim morrison, especialy from the song LA Woman where it sais "Mr Mojorisin", a anagram for Jim Morrison. Actualy its a mix of that and homers chimp. :D

As for what I'm listening to, there's:

Hotel of the Laughing Tree - absolutely fantastic folk/blues/progressive rock. Incredibly melodic and extremely catchy. They just dropped their first full album, and it's my favorite of the year so far.

The Dear Hunter - Not to be confused with Deerhunter, these guys are creating a massive 6-part concept album series that takes place primarily during World War 1. Amazing musicianship, too, with all sorts of different instruments and musical styles represented.

Porcupine Tree - Highly atmosphere, mostly low-key prog rock. Incredibly powerful stuff.

Streetlight Manifesto - Ska punk that actually makes -good- use of horns.

Kay Kay and His Weathered Underground - Most pretentious name ever, but they don't sound like you'd expect them to. They have upwards of 20 members playing nearly as many different instruments.

Broken Social Scene - I'm seeing them in concert this weekend, so hooray.

The Protomen - A concept band about Mega Man. They've written their own surprisingly intricate version of the Mega Man mythos, too, and their music is wholly original - no "rock" covers of old game tunes.

Very unique and diverse lists we have here. I'm loving it. And funny enough, i have most of these band's music except for Michael's list, although i think i might look them up and give them a go.

I enthusiastically (couldn't find a better word) listen to pre 90s rock and a few recently emerged bands, but every other thing is welcomed as long as it's good.

At this very moment listening to Tool on 'Songbird' media player.

Edit: I didn't see currently in the titles, sorry

currently (in the last few days) I've listened to these:

- Ghinzu (I don't know who gave it to me, accidentally found it on my pc a few days ago and I'm liking some of their songs)

@Mathare Hehe, don't get me started on the Coen Brothers worship. They have my vote for best writers currently living. And the most amazing thing is that they aren't snobby about it. Ethan Coen has been in on everything from Madagascar 2 to Tropic Thunder.

I'd probably vote for Barton Fink or Fargo myself. Although No Country For Old Men was amazing.

The only one I didn't get much out of so far was A Serious Man.

@DSB A Serious Man was... well, let's just say it left me speechless. I have no idea why it was showered with so much praise.

I'm a Coen fan too, but that film was a load of CrAp, and to a certain extent, so was Raising Arizona - glad they never hired Cage again :).

As for them being the best screenwriters, well it doesn't get much better than this ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhXJcfczNIc ), does it? :D

What were we talking about again? Music? :p
