Should've made the topic earlier I guess, but if you don't buy Just Cause 2 for 6,25 euros on Steam, you have NO SOUL.
Got it on a sale a while back, only to realize that I gladly would've paid full price.
Go!

I picked the 360 version up over Christmas for a mighty £4.99. Not played it yet, though.
Yeah, I bought it today off steam. Might play it now :D.
I tried the demo and was a bit "meh".
Is there anything beyond going from town to town and blowing up things with the star symbol on?
Also I got a bit fed up running round this one location with 91% completion unable to find the last damned 9%.

Where's the problem, it sounds awesome \:D/
No srsly, I loved the first one and as soon as I see a good deal for this one, I'm going to pick it up.
/e: 360 o PS3 of course, I don't have a PC that could pull this great environment :/
I bought it on launch day. It really is an incredible achievement. The seamless open world and proper sandbox combat was just a joy to behold. Nothing like launching a speedboat at high speed off a beach, landing in an nearby airport on top of a taxi-ing jet, stealing said jet and using it rip the airport to pieces.
Might have to revisit it actually...
played it from beginning to end. Thought it was crap. Very similar to Mercenaries 2
It's too late now, but the demo on PC was completely borked. I tried the demo on PC and decided not to buy when the game first came out, but once I tried the finished version it was an entirely different experience.
If you don't like sandbox games, then I don't see why you'd buy a sandbox game, but as far as the ammount of chaos and ability to improvise goes, it's second to none. A bit like the heir apparent to Saints Row 2.
The campaign is mostly copy-paste, we're talking way below B-movie standards, but who gives a shit about story when you can grapplehook onto choppers, ride on top of a private jet, or walk into a military base and blow everything to bits?
@spiderLAW - Shuuuuuuuuun. If you thought it was crap, then why play it from beginning to end?!
lol. If i buy a game, i play it all the way through even if it is garbage. Hell, i hated Clayfighter and it was crap but i played it till i felt i got my money's worth. It might be an OCD thing.
I dont really think sanbox games are all that great but i thought GTA 4 was decent, Saints Row 2 was good, Saboteur was okay, Red Faction Geurilla was pretty good, and i think thats about it for sanbox games that i liked this gen.
I agree with OP, in terms of explosive sandbox fun it's unparalleled, although I liked Mercs2 (despite the game being half assed and ultimately not nearly as good as the original Mercenaries) Pandemic's game featured much better destructions.
also completely agreed with what BraveArse said, it's a milestone achievement.
I didn't even play the story missions after that resque from an opium den one, spent dozens of hours blowing up the bases and collecting stuff. in fact, some of the factions' missions were much better than the main ones I tried, ie the one where you have to shut down the satelites for commies or stop the rocket were amazing.
The "island" mission where you come across people from a certain asian country (no spoiler intended) is - bar none - the most awesome mission I've ever played in an open world game.
Just totally awesome in every way.
Awesome game! Largest open world I have ever played.
It's a nice game, currently i'm playing through it now as well. And yeah the parachute, grapple and stunts are fun, but i wonder for how long it will last. I've done several story and faction missions and at the end of the day, it's really alot of the same. I am hoping for some great missions but so far they have been enjoyable, but nothing more than that.
As for negatives, i absolutely hate the voice acting, especially that Bolo Santosi, sigh. And i really don't give a crap about any of its characters, the story is all very forgettable so far too.
