Yikes this thread could get ugly fast.
Here is my delema:
I just upped for two more years of live. I took advantage of a renew offer with 20bucks worth of MS points. So I am locked in for two more years.
And my xbox is breaking too.
I am dealing with a rouge disc reader. I can't get most games to read on the first try. It often takes three or more. The games will sometimes cut out once loaded. And some games don't load at all.
Just for the record, my first PS3 had the same problem. Just a fun little coincedence(true, no bs) to ease the respective fanboys. Nothing this gen is made well, Cept my Wii keeps on ticking(lucky me).
But not onyl do I have the two years of live to think about, but in truth the actual service that MS offers is unbeatable. It is and most people know it(now admitting to it is another thing all together). What I am talking about is the XBLArcade offerings, the indie games, the reliability of LIVE, the xross game chat, music while I play games, etc.
When it works, the xbox360 is fantastic. And that is why it gets high regaurds from many on that thread that was mentioned a bit ago.
Not only will switching consoles (I have a PS3, BC fatty 60 or 80 not sure which), cut me out of those things I mentioned. But the games I play are almost all on xbox360. No not just the exclusives, but the close to 500usd in downloaded songs for RB and GH(and thinking about it, it could be more than 500 - scary I know). All of my football games. My civ rev(and its dlc), all of the countless arcade games I own. And everything else from death smiles to radien IV to F1 to BFBC2 to yes gears and reach.
I really don't want to switch systems.
But I either need to buy/rebuy games for my PS3 or I need to replace my xbox360.
The trouble with replacing xb360 is that they no longer sell the older style system for me to slap my 250G HDD onto. And I bought a FF360 bundle just to get the HDD. The new systems won't take the old HDDs. And being that I already invested in the older stuff reinvesting is twice as bad.
At this point I am mainly using my xb360 for digital content. I tried playing RB3 yesterday and got so frustrated as it kept cutting out on me.
I guess the two choices are staring me in the face either buy another xb360 set up, transfer my hdd over. Or start buying a few games for PS3 and cut my xb360 losses. Right now I can't really afford to do either.
I just used my game budget for a while on Rift and a 6 month sub to that. So I guess that and Steam is where you will find me. And we still can use the xb360 for the arcade stuff. I could still get a game on demand once in awhile. It just bothers me greatly. Sorry for ranting but it fits on this thread. I feel your pain Dralen. And it make me sick.
I am still using my first Turbo Duo, Neo Geo AES, SNES, Saturn, Dreamcast, but once we hit 32bits things took a dive. I went through several PSx, PS2, Xboxone, and now going through xb360s and PS3s.
I think next gen, I am going to stick with the PC exclusivly. Steam and Onlive for me I guess.
