I seem to be big on the RPGs =/ but those are just my all time most enjoyed, loved and touched-by games.
Crysis's post reminded me of something I'd completely forgotten about, so I'll just add it as an honorable mention as well: Dino Crisis 2. Finished it too many times to count with a friend.
In no particular order:
Dino Crisis 1,
Dawn of War (+ expansions),
Timesplitters 2,
GTA San Andreas,
Star Wars Battlefront 1.
Oddly nothing from this generation breaks my top 5 but Uncharted 2, Halo 3, Resistance 2, Metal Gear Solid 4 & Fable 2 deserve honorable mentions.
- Tetris
- DRoD
- Space Giraffe
- SSX Tricky
- Shadow of the Colossus
and also:
- Trolling internet forums

Goldeneye N64
Mario Kart N64
God of War 3
Uncharted 2
GTA: Vice City
No doubt other games will creep into my head and I'll need to change this list but this list is a pretty good start.
Mine are in no particular order. I can't decide.
5. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
4. World of Warcraft
3. Metal Gear Solid
2. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
1. Final Fantasy X
Hmmm, interesting as the way I would answer is more about impact and what that game brought to the table rather than purely on enjoyment. So for example I might include GTA3 but not GTA:VC even if I enjoyed VC a bit more. GTA3 is the title that broke the ground which GTA:VC build on, so in a sense is the greater game. My list in no particular order ...
LittleBigPlanet
GTA3
Demon's Souls
Captive
Final Fantasy Tactics
K boys pass that crack pipe you fellas are smoking around this way and I will get you a list too.
In no true order, it is hard to number greatness:
Civilization(collectivly).
Diablo(collectivly).
RockBand(collectivly).
Phantasy Star Online/Universe(Collectivly).
Meridian59
Those right there are stranded on a deserted island type games. The list of great and must have games is huge. From Pacman and Tetris to Dragonforce and Gaurdian Heros to Super Mario and Steet Fighter. But the man said five. So five it is.
And nice thread Timber, people love doing this little lists once in awhile. Its neat to see what your fellow website friends value in gamings history.
The best of the best are:
5. Three way tie: Shadow of the Colossus, Mass Effect 2, Super Mario Bros 3
4. Legacy of the Wizard
3. Mafia

In no particular order:
1) Metal Gear Solid 1 or MGS series
2) Half-Life 1-2
3) Starcraft I
4) TES 3: Morrowind
5) Diablo 2:LOD
1. Rez HD;
1. SuperMarioWorld;

Top five this gen:
Uncharted 2
Super Street Fighter 4
Metal Gear Solid 4
Mass Effect 1-2
and then tie between Bioshock 1-2 and Gears of War 1-2
Half-Life 2 (orange box) would win this gen over anything but i still dont consider it this gen really. Its stuck in that void of between last and current gen.
@OG
Yeah thats weird, but hey if he likes it, he likes it then...
^^Yep, to each their own.
This requires far more thought than I am capable of today..
1 - Final Fantasy VII
2 - Metal Gear Solid 3
3 - Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
4 - Shadow of the Colossus
5 - Metal Gear Solid
A list for 8 & 16-bit games would be interesting.
@Older the original Manhunt, yeah. the second was terrible though, they've degraded everything about it in the sequel.
I suppose you thought it was a serial killer sim?
the stealth was top notch, and the game was very well done.
Good enough Man.
And no I didn't think it was some sort of seriel killer sim. It just never stood out as quality piece of entertainment to me. But thats ok, I have my own list already, you have every right to your own list. Its all good.
well, since the question was what's your favourite games, I answered that. and I feel it was a rather quality one to be honest, it was challenging, immersive and very entertaining.
Manhunt was a dedicated stealth title, and I like the genre (not the jack of all trades master of none but the pure stealth ones).
I say it's weird that you put 'gaming' and 'mmo' in the same sentence =p
Manhunt was amazing. Genuinely tense atmosphere and, later on, great cover-based mechanic years before they were mainstream. A shame the game is remembered more for its gore than anything else. And, yes, MH2 was not a patch on the original, sadly.
Thanks OlderGamer for the kind words,
