Wow that was..... amazing. I'm not buying what the reviews have said thus far at all. Kinda hard to deny the epicness in poking your enemies eyes out kratos style

^Most reviews didnt say the SP was bad, just the story.
I havent tried the demo but from what i'm hearing its epic.

Game is graphically beast fantasic SP and controls are much improved from previous
slide to lock cover mechanics are awesome and melee combat is greatPosted 2 years ago # -
Downloaded and played the demo. Pretty good size demo with a fair variety of content. It's not going to convert the people who didn't enjoy KZ2 I doubt - unless their only beef was the controls as these are now "improved".
Feels a lot more like the CoDs of old in some respects. Dramatic scenes but without the constant reeling from enemy fire which for me has blighted the last couple of CoDs. There's nothing new in there at all but at the same time it does have a certain feel or vibe to the whole game which makes it a KZ game.
Couple of extra comments - at the start I took up position overlooking the initial enemies and started taking them down from cover. As I did this guys occasionally appeared from a tent structure and took up positions to return fire. I stayed there picking them off to check if this was a respawn mechanic - ready to turn the game off at this point - it wasn't thankfully - they stopped after about 4 enemies and the way was clear.
I was impressed that where areas opened out a little you had a bit more freedom of approach to the situation. Always a good thing in a shooter and one of the strongest points in a games Halo or Uncharted 2, and something I find lacking in more funnelled shooters like the recents CoDs.
AI on the regular difficulty level was reasonable, some flanking manoeuvres by the enemies took me by surprise a couple of times. Though in the encounter with the flying Helghast (ones with jetpacks) they seemed to be based on a set course from a second play through after I died.
So overall very competent and a beautiful looking game, but nothing here which is likely to break me out of my FPS apathy phase I am going through currently. Fans should be pretty pleased, previous detractors not so much.

Is it still PS+ only?

^ Not if you get it off the HK Store.

Very impressive indeed. Got kind of annoyed with the jetpack part though. Couldn't figure out what to do. I was rushed though and distracted.
So far, both betas and single player demo have exceeded my expectations. :)

Sounds like i will enjoy it. Thank you for your detailed description.
Sucks that it wont be pleasing to those that didnt like the previous games. Although so far 6 friends on my PSN list hated KZ2 and when they tried the beta they loved it and said they will be getting it day 1.
Hopefully that doesnt change for them when they try the single player demo.Posted 2 years ago # -

"Sucks that it wont be pleasing to those that didnt like the previous games."I think they can only go so far with changes before it would stop being a KZ game - but it depends what people didn't like about KZ2. It's also hard to judge on a small demo how things will pan out across the whole game. From what I played there are notable improvements in the control response which a lot of people will like, I thought the level design and open elements where there was some freedom of approach worked well too.
I've only tried the MP part with Bots on the Beta so far - what are the big changes there? It all felt quite familiar for me. Not such a bad thing as I enjoyed the KZ2 MP - but what's changed?
Oh yeah - control schemes are still a bit restrictive. You can't have fire and zoom on R2/L2 without also having the cover button on L1 - which gives me the claw. Using the normal control scheme puts cover on L2 but Zoom then shifts to R3 which is abnormal to CoD regulars. Have they put cover in the MP this time?

@DrDamn
I see what you are saying.Changes in MP - Ranking is more accessible as each class unlocks more gear as you play with that class instead of having to earn ribbons and reach super high ranks to unlock a class like in KZ2. Spawning on a team mate appears to be removed but not entirely. You can control vantage points and change spawn areas (kinda like flag markers in BC2). Control response has changed. Weapons have also been added so we now have more of a selection (im liking the 3burst rifle on the tacticians class). Skills have also been added which help change the way your class is setup (Extra Ammo, Armor, Secondary Weapon becomes another main weapon instead of a side arm. etc.)
No covering in MP, just ducking behind things like in COD.
There is a control scheme that mimics COD with one minor adjustment. L2 is duck and circle is the "Use" button but other than that its a complete clone of COD controls. I think its called "Alternate" control scheme. Acutally, this feels closer to BC2 than it does COD.Posted 2 years ago # -
Yeah, i use "alternate" controls. I can't stand R3 for scope zooming, it's so un-natural.
It still feels, handles, and looks like Killzone, just improved in every way.

The story certainly won't excite me, but the demo I played had more variety than half of KZ2. The game is beautiful, Rico isn't an annoying gruntish generic tough guy, stabbing a soldiers eye out is awesome no matter how many times I do it, and AI will still rock my shit. Not to mention I'm having a blast with the beta.
Picking this up ASAP.

Yeah just finished the demo on veteran.
Have to say it was pretty good actually.
I didn't really enjoy KZ2 as much as I thought I would but this was pretty good.Posted 2 years ago # -
Finally played this. Didn't play KZ2 and wasn't really impressed by KZ3's multiplayer beta, but gotta say, that was a properly epic level.
The visuals... the not-a-shooting-gallery AI... the visceral melee executions... brilliant stuff all round.
I'm generally not a fan of FPS campaigns, but that demo's got me hungry for more.
