Broncanus: made a couple of tweaks - emblackened the top story a bit, and made the pullquote flush. Better?

Is the separate 'latest comments' page gone now? Or am I just not seeing it? I used to use that quite a bit.

Err yeah, sorry. I don't think it'll be a problem to reinstate that. Always the way with these things, someone is always using something you weren't aware of :)

Mart: That does look better.
I was just looking at the site in IE (usually use Chrome) and I don't think the header font is being recognised as "bold" so it's still hard to see there, and the opacity is still down. Firefox is the same as Chrome.
The pull quote looks good. :)

Blerk: we might be able to have that back in this afternoon. Keep em peeled.
Broc: Righto, I'll give it another look in *puke* IE. Thanks! *puke*

Cool. I seem to remember it vanished and then had to be reappeared in the last redesign, too. :-D
Did you make the 'latest comments' box on the front page taller? It seems taller now. Seems more useful now, regardless. :-)

Mart - I know, but it's got to be done. My wife was looking at the site in IE. I'm considering having her burnt at the stake.

Where did the tags go for the forum? They were the best bit :(
Posted 2 years ago # -
I understand you guys are trying to generate clicks and whatnot, but can we please have a little more than one sentance for every article on the front page? Sometimes when I'm only vaguely interested in the subject, I glance at the 'description' as I call it, and then have a more thorough read if I want more.

Blerk - not taller, just the length of headlines / comments are shorter I guess. I'll keep an eye on it.
Bronc - absolutely has to be done. Last I checked, it looked great in IE8, a little bit wonky in IE7, and we don't support IE6. I'll give it another once over though.

Is there an RSS feed for the site still? I noticed there's an exhaustive list of places I could send your articles to, if I chose and there's even now individual feeds per topic, in here in the, now happily joined with site login forum - but I don't seem to be able to find the main RSS.

regarding the captcha
i find these to be not as userfriendly as those who ask u questions.
simple stuff like 4+3=?
i found those to be way more userfriendly cause sometimes i have serious issues with recognizing the captchas. So is the question thing a possibility and what do others think about it.

Most images are broken for me or just not visible
ScreenshotPS: Oooh, hyperlinks work now. :D

The images are working, your DNS hasn't caught up yet unfortunately. It will catch up eventually.

mojo: the thing about this captcha system is that it is easily integrated into Wordpress. Your entry doesn't have to be an exact match. I know it's a pain, but I'm afraid it's just what we've got to work with.

How am I gonna get my stealth trolls in now then :(
Posted 2 years ago # -
You're just going to have to fully commit to trolling. Like a real man.

The good: Cleaner overall. Good colour scheme. Two bar layout works much better than three. Nice, fast login. Sharing options are simple and unobtrusive.
The bad: The feature box would look less overwhelming without the bigger box. I always liked that your old feature box never got in the way. The graphics and text really don't mesh well in story preview - feels like there's too little writing in comparison to the size of the picture. The header text for the articles looks oversized because of this as well. It looks messy.
Edit: And my username comes out funny.
Some good. Some bad. Nothing that I'm sure can't be worked on and improved in the future. Good job to everyone involved though. I'm just glad to have proper logging in back. =P

Nice frank observations there Michael. Always happy to take that sort of criticism on board. Thanks.

I think I have to agree with the text looking a little big in the articles.
Although on the flip side to that, the site seems to look a ton better on the iphone in horizontal view as the width fits everything in perfect.
You might not to adjust much for a mobile site from this design to be honest.
Posted 2 years ago # -
I was hoping to gather feedback on how the new layout performed for people on mobiles before we went about developing some sort of alternate layout. Keen to hear more thoughts.

Oh, and another thing, I wouldn't mind in the future somewhere if the @user name / post number thing could be ratified into the site kinda like how twitter does it.

It's full of stars...

Oh look at this guy, coming along with his great big username.
Posted 2 years ago # -
Oh boy I don't like it :/
It's a bit too much and too red :DGoing to be a hard time getting used to it.
Posted 2 years ago # -
Sorry you don't like it M2Kx. Are you sure it's not "too red" because of the massive red advert that we're running at the moment? :)
