   So as we all know the site's getting a relaunch today (Feb 1). VG247 v2.0 should be live at around 08.00 GMT according to 'guvernor Pat.

   Obviously, everyone will be eager to express their thoughts on the revamped site once the update goes live. Hence, I've created the thread so that we can have all the user reaction (positive,negative or both) in one place.

   8 hours and counting, then...

    I like new functions, but i think that previous design was much better...
    and logo is without any style compared to the last one... But it's just me.

    allthough i could log in i still got the message and the prompt to enter the password for "tester"

    3. undecided about the new logo. not that its bad, its nice and clean, although im not sure if i like the iold one more.

    I have had a couple of those 'tester' login/password boxes pop up so far, though. Mostly when I was trying (and failing) to log in just before.

    Not sure about the captcha thing here, though. I find that more irritating than the spam.

    Nice and crisp guys. I think that the main image headers on the homepage could do with tweaking. Maybe taking the opacity of the black up a few notches would improve the readability of the overlayed text. It looks messy as it is right now IMHO.

    I noticed that the pullout quote text box (grey) is overlapping just outside the centre column. It could be my display of course but thought I'd point int out.

    Overall, nice tech, great new look.

    I prefer a clean and simple 'google' style look.

    Boncanus: cheers for the comments. You might be right about the black level on the opacity - in testing we didn't use particularly bright images like that one. I'll keep my eye on it.

    The pullquote overlap is on purpose, though admittedly it looks better when it's left-aligned. I might take it out for right aligned quotes.

    mart - I only get it if I'm logging in from the front page. If I fill in details there and hit login I get the 'tester' box and login fails, nothing in the address bar aside from vg247.com.

    If I hit login without putting my details in I get to the old login page. If I fill my details in and hit OK there then it appears to have done nothing but does actually log me in.

    If I try to login from the forum then everything seems fine, either by filling in my details above or using the newer login screen that you get when you just click login without supplying details.

    BTW yeah, captcha is annoying, but sadly the place is so easily spammed we have to do something a bit more hardcore :(

    The captcha keeps you on your toes that's for sure.
    I amuse myself by pretending I'm trying to read some menu-text on the 3DS.

    FINALLY able to change my password too!

    The new format works for me :)

    Thinking about it Mart, Eurogamer manage to get away with it and it's very readable. It could just be that they use a drop shadow on the text. It would be a shame to obscure your images with a heavier black space, so maybe that's a better option if possible.

    Your right-aligned overlay could also look wrong if the pull quote appears alongside the right column boxes for forum comments etc as I think it would fill the space. Perhaps that would never happen though. I'm sorry for reporting a design choice as a bug! :D

    I think I'd like the 'latest comments' box to be a bit taller, you don't seem to fit as many things in there as before. The 'on the forum' one seems a better size.

    On the whole I'm pretty pleased with the change, though.

    Edit: God damn you, captcha!
