Steph has probably done more for cleaning up the trouble than anyone else on th staff, Yoshi.
Dave can't do anything because he doesn't have access to that sort of stuff.
The little invasion the other night is probably the worst it's ever gotten, and thankfully it isn't all the time. But yeah, something needs to be some.
I was tempted to notify Pat... but I've honestly just gotten tired of doing so and nothing happening. I was getting told I had a "grudge" against certain members instead of having my complaint taken legitimately, which kind of defeated the point of being told to notify them of excessive behaviour.
Clearly the hands off approach is working, huh?
I was told to make a collection of posts that show off someone's excessive behaviour, something I *didn't* want to do because 1) they're behaviour was right in front of their faces, and 2) It was needless stresswork on my part. When I did as they asked over the span over like two months, I was then told this member "wasn't doing anything wrong according to the rules". Said person continues to go around the forums calling every single member retarded, desperate, lonely, etc. that's acceptable because they don't
I informed one of the staff the other day that this person was calling me "mentally ill" on the website. I've received no response. Why the fuck should I have to put up with this abuse? Why the fuck should anyone have to put up with that? In the real world, people like that get a punch in the face.
You know exactly what I mean Dave. We had a discussion about this very topic of bullying journalist and how stressful it is in the comments section the other day. This is essentially what the members have to put up with just by *being here*.
I fucking hate coming to this community half the time. It's toxic, its stressful, and its constantly demeaning to me as a person. The only reason I stick around is because of the fact that there *are* so many decent members under all the shit - OlderGamer, DSB, silk, and so many others. Sometimes I wonder why *they* stick around, frankly.
If you don't want to deal with the community, that's your choice. Just don't be surprised when, in a year or two, 99% of the people reading all your hard written work are trolls arguing with each other about their console in bad spelling and grammar.
The current policy basically says "You can say whatever you want to people, bully and harass them as much as you want, and you'll be allowed to get away with as long as its not sexist or homophobic. Oh, and don't criticise Brenna, that's an insta-ban."
I probably wasted my time writing all that, but I'm just echoing what everyone is thinking. Oh well.
@Steph, I don't know why people would put your motives into question. You're the one actually getting rid of the infestation. Wish you'd cleanse a few more.
