   I've banned him. I'm not going to go into detail, but I couldn't allow one person to derail the entire community. I found the end of my tether last night.

   I've always said that VG247 is an environment free of moderation and banning, and for the most part the "brave experiment" worked. I felt that Shatner was abusing the privilege, however, hence he's gone.

   I genuinely hope I never have to do it again, frankly, and I hate the fact I felt I had to do it in this case. He certainly isn't the only poster on here who I'd deem to have exhibited "unacceptable behaviour" in the past 18 months, but he really was an exception.

   So I heard from PUD on Twitter and PT on Eurogamer.

   Personally, alot of people, myself included anyways, probably feel you'll have done the right thing. That said, a lot less LOLZ though. :(

   I agree Mike, I too avoided the place due to him; if there was an article with him posting in it I usually avoided it. I like a good arguement as much as the next guy, as you well know having been involved repeatedly! But you simply can't argue with Shatner. Or talk. Or disscus. Or javelin.

   Good move.

   well i know he was involved in alot of arguments but i never really read any of them so i'm not sure what he did to get banned and as such have no view on the banning, i'm neutral.

   He was quite the character, that's for sure, but alas it's true to say that every other thread was being turned into a battle royal between himself and most of the regulars.

   I do wonder why he became so uncompromisingly confrontational towards the end. He always liked to challenge the way things were run, and would be the first to call out any questionable decisions, but during the past month he really seemed to relish disrupting every other thread with personal vendettas.

   Hopefully he'll have plenty of time to reflect, come to the realisation that he was getting so worked up over a videogame forum, and mellow out.

    His contributions to the site are still there for all to see, so everyone can make up his mind about him; name-calling is not necessary, especially since he is banned and cannot defend himself.

    He certainly seemed capable of insightful thoughts and constructive comments, but, more often than not, he came down way too strong on everyone and everything for my liking, that's for sure.

    Ah well I suppose something had to be done.
    Still the site has now gone from no ban to watch your arse.
    I suppose the bigger you get the harder it is to stay the same.
    Overall though I reckon you had no other choice.
    Sorry shatner if you are reading this as I mean no offence.

    Well, it's one particularly difficult member that is gone, but there will always be arguments. It's the point of comment sections.

    Just maybe they won't be as aimless and completely ridiculous.
