what are the new things that everyone like about the ps4 and is it better then the xbox one
PS4 Specifications(20 posts)
Just read an article would you? Digital foundry on Eurogamer is heartily reccomended.
I've heard people claim the the XB1 uses the Radeon 7790 but seems to barely top the 7770 & that's only a $100 GPU while the PS4 GPU appears to be about as powerful as the 7850($160), which I actually just bought myself but with the intention of crossfire down the track.
@Christopher Jack - The Xbone uses a gimped 7790 in that it has a lesser clock and lower amount of shader units (7790 has 896 shader and the Xbone has 768), where the PS4 uses a GPU that is closer to the 7870 than the 7850. (The 7850 uses 1024 Shader units, the 7870 uses 1280 shader units and 20 compute units, the PS4 uses 1152 shader units and 18 compute units.)
The Xbone has 12 compute units, the 7790 has 14, the PS4 has 18, the 7850 has 16, and the 7870 has 20.
Raw power wise, the Xbone is nowhere close to the PS4 (not to mention the much faster DDR5 memory)
The graphics core in each console is utterly crap. End of story. It was a system on a chip design which both makers opted for on the basis of cost and simplicity. Any mid range PC will blow these next gen consoles into tiny bits.
Thanks for not getting the point of a console.
I told you folks the next gen was gonna have glass ceilings. Even so, the graphics are still looking good, well good enough anyways. Not like the games are going to be ugly. Games aren't ugly now. Sure when you cross over(to high end PC gaming) the consoles no longer seem as nice. But...nail...head in regards to PBs remark.
The consoles could have competed with PCs, could have had higher CPUs and GPUs...they just wouldn't be priced at 400usd or 500usd.
The market decides. And it decides that PC gaming is a pathetically tiny thing very few gamers give a fuck about.
PC(and mobile) gaming is much bigger then you might realize SG, this ain't 1994 anymore. And SNES isn't king.
PC, PC, PC. If you want to play AAA anyways you should just opt for one of the consoles and stick with it. Even current PCs can outperform the PS4, sure. But in terms of price to power ratio, there's no PC that can match PS4s price. And then there's used games, borrowing games, stealing games. Plenty of conviniences with console as well. The best option of course is going console 3-4 years while the gap is quite unnoticeable and then switching up if it bugs you..
Two words: Xbox One.
better then PC and x1 by miles
@ChunkyLover112 : Your life must be terrible, isn't it ?
xbone games look better than ps3.5 games. that is all that matters
@Backup - When you say "then" you actually mean "than".
Also, no, the consoles won't be graphically superior to PCs, PC games will look at least as good as the console versions, except higher res and higher FPS.
@Super3001 - How can Xbox One games look better than PS4 (PS3.5 doesn't exist) when the PS4 has much more graphical power?
The Xbox One has 2/3 the graphical power of the PS4's graphics chip, and significantly less memory bandwidth.
They both have the same CPU, they both have GPUs that are based on the same chip, except the Xbox One's GPU has 1/3 of the stream processors disabled/cut out.
That means in the most basic terms, PS4 has a lot more graphics power available to it, and PS4 games will in theory look better assuming there's no CPU limitation going on.
Do you understand the roll that memory bandwidth plays when it comes to graphics, as well as how graphics chips work?
Other than he is biased due to his allegiance to a certain corporation
he as some others call it that since Sony hasn't showed anything playable yet that justifies those specs.
Just imagine the excitement if Sony showed everything now on release, what ps4 is capable off according to these specs then fast forward 2-3years later.
that excitement has already wore off and people are asking for a new hardware.
I believe they play it safe and each year they try to show something new,so that excitement doesn't wear off so easily.
Just look at the ps3,how the games looked when it launched and year after year how they improved.Even now one step before the next generation arrives they still amazed us with TLOU.
It's common sense really
Why would my life be terrible? Because I'm not a psshit fanboi -- a sheep that buys anything Sony throws at them?
@chunky - because your a a MSshit fanboi -- a sheep that buys anything MS throws at them. I used to love MS, and then they tried to screw their consumers, so they don't get my business for awhile.
It must hurt deep inside knowing the PS4 is the most powerful machine, I am so glad I have no brand loyalty.
just because the ps4 is the main console preference for now doesn't makes us fanboys
In fact most people like myself haven't got to everything Sony throws at us.
But a spiteful hate over a company does make life terrible...missing all the fun ;)
ERRRRRR many more PCs sold than consoles. World of warcraft alone has nearly as many players as the whole of Xbox live, and that is one single game. I think I know which market is bigger.
Anyway, you console kids can bump gums all you like, none of your next gen consoles are going to run Crysis 3 flat out on max settings. It just won't happen and that is a game launched ages ago.
Memory bandwidth etc etc, all shit. Gaming performance is about CPU and GPU horsepower. Both consoles use cheapskate system on a chip tech which belongs in mobile phone handsets. No PC builder would even contemplate such ridiculous technology.
What makes games look good is resolution, and high quality pre-sets with lots of AA and render depth. For this to crank out sensible frame rates you need a hefty and expensive dedicated GPU with its own RAM.
