So what's your game of the generation thus far? And what do you expect to chnage that.
I haven't got an idea, I just saw Mike write it, and I'd like to know what he think, and everyone else too.

BioShock :)
Mass Effect
Not MGS4, not Space Giraffe
Braid
Gears
Halo 3
Uncharted
Viva Pinata
Crackdown
Take a wild guess...
I actually can't GIGA, you are so much more impartial these days.
xD
I can't believe how you were a month ago. It's awesome work. Cool to know theres a sensible, yet opinionated individualunder there all the time I've known you.
So I'd be happy to hear you say it.
- Metal Gear Solid 4
- Mass Effect
- Grand Theft Auto IV
- Call of Duty 4
- Gears of War
- BioShock
- LittleBigPlanet
- Killzone 2
- Mario Galaxy
- Wii Fuck (no typo)
- Crackdown
From the top of my head, no actual order ('cept MGS4, that shit iz dope, innit)
For me it's been PixelJunk Eden. That was my first online download, and it felt crazy.
I hope I know what will top it.
OK, COD4 is where it's at and MW2 is the way to go!
Other than that, the open world car games of this generation have blown away the best of previous gens.
mine so far - Dead Space, Mass Effect, Left 4 Dead.
World of Warcraft. It will go into history as the defining game of the 2005-2010 time period.
Much more of a hobby than a game.
No game can compete on hating on journalists!
As for videogames
MGS4 - impossibly high expectations exceeded at every turn. Consistently mindblowing.
SUCCESSOR: MGSNEXT
Space Giraffe - Leftfield, unconventional, witty, intelligent and beautifully layered strategy. Dares to take players out of their comfort zone. Who dares wins!
SUCCESSOR: Gridrunner+++
LBP - breaks barriers, shows a bold vision well realised that everyone can participate in. The more you put in, the more you get out. Makes you smile when you play it.
SUCCESSOR: dunno. Something very very special indeed!
Super Stardust HD: The finest twinstick shooter since Llamatron. Refined gameplay, uncomplicated presentation, great strategy and just a great *feel*
SUCCESSOR: some other twinstick shooter
Pure: A riotous stunt/race ATV game which manages to reign in the 'tude a let the game shine. Great speed and control and totally convincing sense of everything in the right place. Nice trick system and some sweet signature stunts. Bags of fun.
SUCCESSOR: SSXNEXT
There might be others but, doing a Pat, I've got a truckload of games already on the lists above that I've simply not got around to playing yet.
HA HA!!
Look at that!
The last word specialist... goes for the last word... in another thread!!
This is quality stuff!
Hi GIGA. How's that PS3 price cut going?
As the OP asks for the singular: Portal, probably.
Mass effect 2 maybe as a challenger?
Mass Effect, CoD 4, Halo 3, Portal, Half Life 2 Episode 2, Bioshock, Oblivion.
If I had to pick one of the above, it would probably be Oblivion. It as the first game I got this gen, the day after I bought my 360, and my play time is 60 hours+. My CoD 4/Halo 3 playtime is probably higher, but since that was on multiplayer with friends, I'd say that Oblivion was the best game of this gen, but maybe not the game I've had most fun on.
Games to challenge that are Mass Effect 2, MW2, next Elder Scrolls (this gen?) and Assassins Creed 2.
Bioshock
The Orange Box
Left 4 Dead
Mass Effect
World of Goo
Dead Space
Fallout 3
Banjo and Kazooie N&B
The Maw
Resident Evil 5
Thats pretty much the games that come off the top of my head.
Aww, could people stop mentioning Bioshock?
Overrated piece of shite.
No chance in hell of me doing just one game...
Standout Titles
Bioshock
Braid
Burnout Paradise
Castle Crashers
Fallout 3
Geometry Wars 2
Gears of War 2
LBP
Lost Odyssey
Portal
Super Stardust HD
Valkyria Chronicles
World of Goo
Honorable mentions (community games)
Blow
CarneyVale Showtime
Clover
Miner Dig Deep
Halfbrick Blastoff
Halfbrick Echoes
Hexothermic
Groov
Coming soon...
Alan Wake
Alien Breed XBLA
Mass Effect 2
Forza 3 / GT5
God Of War 3
Heavy Rain
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Worms 2: Armageddon
If I was put up against a wall and told to choose two games that have been most memorable for me this gen.... Bioshock and Valkyria Chronicles. LBP could have beaten out either of those... but I'm not a level creator and the game pretty much ended for me when the campaign ended (other than a user created level here and there).
Off topic... this has pretty much been my favourite gen so far, mostly due to bitesize gaming offered by PSN / XBLA / Community Games. I say pretty much because I'm not sure anything can overcome the nostalgia of the old Amiga days. :)
Easy. Game of the generation so far for me is LittleBIGPlanet. Everything else - though there have been some fantsastic titles so far this gen - is just more of the same but prettier, bigger, deeper etc. LBP is unique and truly game changing (no pun intended).
Geometry Wars 2
just Geometry Wars~
The only problem with LBP is it is a platforormer first and foremost. And it is shit at that.
Braave Staaaar!
I thank you.
lol.
Flower's my favourite game this gen. I'm guessing only Trico will come close in terms of atmosphere.
Super Mario Galaxy
Demon's Souls
Came out of nowhere really. It looked awful on the first few videos and I only imported a copy based on the glowing praise it was receiving on the internets.
A very rewarding, atmospheric, harsh game with a few nice touches which seem obvious when you encounter them, yet very few developers have tried before.
Easily the best game I've played in the last ten years.
Successor? Thats a tricky one. Surely FROM have sold enough copies for a sequel to be viable? The game hints at future DLC too. Other than that I can't think of anything on the horizon that could touch it.
My top 5:
1) Assassin's Creed
2) Mass Effect
3) Crackdown
4) Portal
5) Pure
Honourable mention goes to SoulrCalibur IV, but I#m certain Tekken 6 will surpass it.
I also really wanted to stick Star Wars: the Force Unleashed down, but was too worried about losing all gaming cred.
I've not played that many so far, but Fallout 3 is a super-special kind of awesome. I really loved Mass Effect and Bioshock too, but FO3 is probably my fave of the gen so far.
LittleBigPlanet. Almost every other game of this generation was just a update to last generation games with prettier graphics in my opinion.
Skate. Because it tried something new and in my opinion succeeded.
Flower was nice too.
