EA Have Their Next-Gen Prices Set Up For The Future: Just Great......(5 posts)
Surely that's just the rrp.
If games are that expensive I think I'll skip next gen consoles and stick with my already next gen pc, thank you very much!
That isn't bumping them up, that's keeping them the same. EA have been charging £55 RRP for some time now. Search Shopto for the PS3 and PS4 versions of BF4 for example. Retailers give a bigger discount on current gen but RRP is the same.
NB: This happens at the start of every generation. Games were all £50 at launch for PS3/360/WiiU.
Anyway, game prices at the start of a console generation are almost always higher. I remember when the 360 came out, pretty much everything retailed at €59.99, only dropping down to €49.99 later on. Frankly, I'm surprised they're not higher.
Personally it doesn't matter for me, seeing how pubs priced their game in this gen, a boasting so many DLCs, I don't buy my games until they are GoTY editions and less than 20/25€.
But I can see this is going to be a problem for day-1 buyers. Maybe the only exception I'll be buying day-1 will be Kingdom Hearts 3, my last day-1 buy was in the PS2 era, good times!
Also, in Greece and Italy games retail for 70€.
